Be part of something bigger!

BD is one of the largest global medical technology companies in the world and is advancing the world of health by improving medical discovery, diagnostics and the delivery of care. We have over 65,000 employees and a presence in virtually every country around the world to address some of the most challenging global health issues.

We are looking for a Product Designer who will join our small but mighty design team. You will be joining the team building the Scanwell Health mobile app, a new platform within BD Life Sciences, bringing clinical-grade lab testing to consumers in their homes.

Product Designers on our team rapidly design, prototype, test, and iterate on new features and concepts to create a world-class testing experience. Designers work cross-functionally to deliver thoughtful and intuitive experiences across the digital product, packaging, and physical materials. The Product Designer is expected to be part of the entire product design cycle, including research, wireframing, prototyping, building polished mockups, and user testing, with a significant impact on the direction of the product. The designer is expected to communicate ideas to Product, Design, and Engineering teams, and work together to implement designs.

The product designer will report to the Head of Product for the Scanwell Health app.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and designers to define short-term and long-term roadmaps for product
  • Design new user experiences, and improve upon existing features
  • Contribute to the evolution of the product design system and oversee implementation of UI guidelines
  • Build interactive prototypes for evaluating new concepts through usability testing
  • Work with the UX Research team to identify opportunities to improve usability and maintain accessibility best practices throughout the user experience
  • Conduct competitive analyses of products and brands operating in the same space

Qualifications:
  • Experience applying research, usability tests, and metrics to inform design decisions
  • Outstanding UX ability, visual design, and product thinking for mobile apps
  • Comfort with an iterative design process that includes accepting and acting on feedback
  • Competence in relevant design and prototyping tools
  • Previous work experience in a consumer-focused tech organization
  • A passion for turning complex problems into simple and engaging experiences
  • Strong collaboration and self-management skills
  • Degree level qualification; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
