JOB SUMMARY

The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to the Violence Prevention Project Research Center (VPPRC) by communicating with the public, tracking center activities and providing research assistance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide first point of contact for all inquiries to the VPPRC.
  • Communicate with donors, students, reporters and others regarding VPPRC questions.
  • Oversee 3-4 student researchers working on data coding projects.
  • Assist with research tasks as needed including data collection, coding and literature reviews.
  • Manage the VPPRC social media accounts (i.e. LinkedIn and Instagram).
  • Manage VPPRC supplies and place orders when needed.
  • Occasional help with event planning (i.e. research summit or webinar).
  • All other duties as requested.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google.
  • Experience and sensitivity working with people from diverse backgrounds including victims and perpetrators of violence.
  • Experience working with heavy topics (i.e. related to crime, violence and trauma).

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, criminology or related field from an accredited university or college.
  • Experience with data coding and collection.
  • Experience in communication and office administration.

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Experience and sensitivity working with people from diverse backgrounds including victims and perpetrators of violence.
  • Experience working with heavy topics (i.e. related to crime, violence and trauma).

WORKING CONDITIONS / EQUIPMENT

Must perform the following essential functions with or without a reasonable accommodation:

  • Must be able to work on a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to travel on and off campus locations.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • This is a full time, 1.0 FTE position, non-exempt position, 12 months of the year. This is a hybrid position with flexible hours.
  • Occasional night or evening work may be required.
  • This position reports to the: VPPRC Executive Director, Jillian Peterson
  • This position supervises 3-5 student workers.
