Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to join the ThinkCyte team in the San Francisco Bay area. ThinkCyte Inc. is a biotechnology startup that aims to provide scientists and biomedical professionals with a transformational single-cell technology that accelerates biological discoveries and enable the development of novel treatments and diagnostics. Our core technology, Ghost Cytometry (GC), combines flow cytometry, high-speed imaging, and machine learning to enable the characterization and isolation of cells based on cellular morphology. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing, dynamic, and collaborative R&D team that work on cutting-edge technology requiring interdisciplinary solutions. The primary function of this position will be a part of PoC experiments, assay development, and collaborative research with biopharma companies and academic institutes that take advantage of GC technology. 


Responsibilities

  • This individual will conduct mammalian cell culture, clone cDNAs/genes, isolate leukocytes from blood, and execute techniques including immunostaining, microscopy, and flow cytometry.
  • Uses professional concepts and critical thinking and problem-solving skills to achieve objectives in creative and effective ways
  • Performs day-to-day experimental activities, maintains detailed, up-to-date laboratory notebook utilizes safe laboratory protocols
  • Communicate plans, results and conclusions, and makes recommendations to internal stakeholders, including international/multi-disciplinary team members in a reproducible manner
  • Assists the team with documenting and updating Standard Operating Procedures as needed
  • Remains current on and adheres to experimental protocols and guidelines on data entry, conservation, and sharing
  • Remains current on relevant scientific and industry techniques 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology or related field (required)
  • Hands-on laboratory experience in the cell biology field, including mammalian cell culture, PBMCs, and/or primary cells (required)
  • Lab working experience in Cell Biology, Immunology, or related field in the biopharmaceutical industry (preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with flow cytometry and cell sorting, including operating software, data analysis (FlowJo), and instrument troubleshooting (preferred)
  • Proven capability to carry out and follow through complex research programs (preferred)
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent record keeping and great attention to details
  • Effective in oral and written communications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
