The Role:

We are seeking an innovative and experienced Research Associate to join our DNA Read Write & Library Sciences team to support high throughput data generation efforts at Generate. In collaboration with our dry lab team and our Innovation and Data Generation at Scale (IDGS) team, the successful candidate will streamline and advance Generate’s high throughput DNA construction capabilities to deliver high quality DNA for expression of thousands of proteins per cycle. In addition, the candidate will work closely in matrixed team settings to develop novel DNA assembly technologies for improvement of both throughput and quality of DNA production.  This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced start-up environment with an amazing culture. An ideal candidate will have extensive experience and strong enthusiasm in molecular biology with focusing on DNA technologies. Familiarity with bioinformatics tools for in silico DNA analysis and desire to work with advanced automation are pluses.

Here's how you will contribute:

• Work closely with team members to design, order, build and QC large sets of DNA constructs in high throughput manner.
• Communicate the DNA production results to proper stake holders.
• Support the development of novel technologies for DNA assembly.
• Work cross teams to build new expression vectors and housekeep the in-house vector collections.

The Ideal Candidate will have:

• B.S./M.S. in Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, Microbiology, or related field with 1+ years of lab experience.
• Expertise in plasmid and DNA purification, PCR, gel electrophoresis and multi-part DNA assembly cloning techniques (Golden gate, Gibson, etc).
• Familiarity with Sanger and NGS DNA sequencing data analysis.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• A responsible and enthusiastic team player.

Nice to have:

• Bioinformatic skills with R/Python for analyzing DNA sequencing data.
• Automation experience
