Research Associate II, Drug Product Development

Scribe Therapeutics is a molecular engineering company focused on creating best-in-class in vivo therapies that permanently treat the underlying cause of disease. Scribe Therapeutics is seeking a candidate with experience in formulation and downstream processing of lipid nanoparticles, biophysical  assessment of the LNP systems. The candidate will join as a Research Associate II with the Process Sciences team to develop formulations for its CRISPR by Design™ platform. The ideal candidate should have a good understanding of lipid nanoparticle formulations by various mixing and downstream processing techniques.

Key Responsibilities

• Formulate and characterize lipid nanoparticle (LNPs) formulations both at small and large scales.
• Assist team to generate LNP formulations for in-house and R&D requirements.
• Data analysis using statistical software’s such as GraphPad PRISM, JMP etc.,
• Effectively collaborate within various groups and map out future needs and manage procurement of materials.
• Maintain detailed records of experimental protocols and data in electronic laboratory notebook.
• Additional duties and responsibilities as required will be assigned based on the needs of the team.

Required skills and background:

• BS with 2-4 years of experience, or MS with 1 year of experience in an academic/ industry setting. Degrees in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related discipline.
• Experience with nanoparticles downstream processing, such as dialysis, Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF), centrifugal processing and sterile filtration techniques.
• Experience with drug delivery, bioconjugation and surface modification chemistry are an asset.
• Experience with lipid nanoparticles formulation and characterization.
• Excellent collaborative, communication skills and a good team player.
• Critical thinking and mindset to deep dive into the LNP and gene editing field are the most desirable skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with CRISPR technologies and therapeutic approaches

• Knowledge on lipid chemistry, self-assembly characteristics, and their interaction with oligonucleotides.
• Ability to run methods and characterization techniques such as Particle size analysis, RNA content analysis, Osmometer, Agarose-Gel, Western Blot, UV-Vis Spectroscopy, UPLC-CAD, Bioanalyzer, ELISA, 96 well plate-based assays.
• Knowledge and experience using ChemDraw, GraphPad, JMP are preferred.
