Research Associate/Senior Research Associate, Embryology

Colossal is looking for a talented Research Associate/Senior Research Associate with an interest in the technologies for embryology in non-model organisms. You will work closely with other team members in efforts to conduct somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT), in vitro embryo production, embryo micro-manipulation, and embryo CRISPR editing. the RA/SRA will be also assisting in production of embryonic stem (ES) cells and induced pluripotent stem (IPS) cells from various species, and genome engineering of those cells.  

This position is based out of Dallas, TX. Relocation assistance within the US is available.

 Duties and Responsibilities:

• SCNT: participate in the weekly routine of SCNT including removal of cumulus cells from oocytes, enucleation of oocytes, injection of donor cells or nuclei, and electrofusion to re-construct SCNT embryos
• In vitro embryo production: perform in vitro maturation, in vitro fertilization and in vitro embryo culture
• Embryo micro-manipulation: zygote microinjection, CRISPR microinjection and blastocyst microinjection
• Embryo transfer: surgical embryo transfer mainly in mice
• ES and IPS cells: derive ES and IPS cells from various species, routinely culture and maintain ES and IPS cells, perform genome engineering of those cells, and derive single-cell clones of engineered ES and IPS cells
• Lab maintenance: order supplies, maintain records of reagents, perform routine lab maintenance
• Work on project milestones together with team members, and function well in a team
• Attends lab meetings, prepares reports and presentations, and keep detailed electronic records

Required Skills and Experience:

• Three years of embryo micro-manipulation experience required
• Experience in SCNT preferred
• Experience in in vitro maturation, in vitro fertilization, and in vitro embryo culture
• Experience with ES and/or IPS cells
• Great organizational skills and excellent lab record maintenance
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Must be authorized to work in the US

Education:

• BA/BS/MA/MS in developmental biology, embryology, veterinary sciences, reproductive sciences, molecular biology, or any other biological science related field.
