Position Overview

Beam is seeking a highly energetic flow cytometry expert to join our team as a Research Associate/Senior Research Associate to evaluate lead candidate cell therapies for the treatment of Hematological and Immunological diseases.  The successful candidate will be responsible for performing flow cytometry analyses and cell sorting on Beam’s cell therapy products as well as performing user training and instrument troubleshooting and routine maintenance.  This position will work closely with multiple research teams and functional groups.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support all internal/external research programs
  • Execute specimen preparation, staining and sample acquisition of flow cytometric data
  • Perform cell sorting on BD FACS Melody, FACSAria Fusion or BD FACS Symphony S6
  • Design, plan, and execute assay development and/or platform development within the core flow cytometry group and cross-functionally
  • Perform flow data analyses and interpretation, and present data at group meetings
  • Maintain electronic notebook record of performed experiments
  • Provide basic training to researcher on various flow cytometers and cell sorters
  • Evaluate and troubleshoot instrument issues
  • Assist in coordinating core lab logistics (e.g. user scheduling, vendor/maintenance calls, etc)

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biology, immunology, or related discipline, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (Bachelor) or 3 years of relevant experience (Master). 
  • Deep scientific knowledge in flow-based assays,immune cell phenotyping of immune cell subsets, including hematopoietic stem cells.
  • Experience in flow data analyses, interpretation, and data presentation.
  • Experience in cell sorting desirable
  • Ability to represent the interests of the group on cross-functional teams.
  • Self-motivated, detail oriented, and manage multiple laboratory activities
  • Contribute to a positive and exciting work environment
