Are you passionate about bringing meaningful change through science? We have a fantastic opportunity for a Research Impact Manager to join our Research Development and Impact Team. You’ll be playing a key role, working with our leading researchers ensuring that every project we undertake contributes to real-world impact, from shaping policy decisions to delivering measurable benefits for the UK and beyond.Â

You’ll be coordinating impact assessments and developing impact case studies for our centre evaluation (equivalent to the Research Excellence Framework). You’ll be collaborating across the organisation to integrate impact into project development to ensure impact delivery is a key project outcome. You'll raise awareness of the importance of these measures, work closely with stakeholders, and ensure that our organisation is set up for long-term success by embedding a culture of impact in our work.Â

Your main responsibilities will include:Â Â Â
- Lead the development and implementation of strategies for knowledge exchange, optimising, monitoring, and promoting impact across all projectsÂ
- Coordinating and developing impact case studies for the Research Centre Evaluation Exercise (equivalent to the Research Excellence Framework (REF))Â
- Collaborate with researchers and program managers to embed knowledge exchange throughout the project lifecycle, accelerating impact and improving funder reportingÂ
- Identify opportunities to enhance research impact and support grant development, including Knowledge Exchange Fellowship applicationsÂ
- Monitor funder requirements (UKRI and others) and drive change to strengthen proposal generation and impact reportingÂ
- Develop stakeholder engagement opportunities and manage external economic analyses to verify UKCEH's research impactÂ
- Prepare for Knowledge Exchange Framework submissions and coordinate impact contributions for research evaluationsÂ
- Implement systems for tracking, managing, and reporting impact evidence internally and externally (including REF and KEF)Â
- Work with Communications & Engagement to promote and celebrate research impactÂ
- Address training needs to enhance knowledge exchange activities, using frameworks like Theory of Change and MEALÂ
Â
For the role of Research Impact Manager, we’re looking for somebody who has:  Â
- Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline or relevant experience Â
- Experience of supporting and informing translational research based on a detailed practical understanding of knowledge exchange, and delivery of organisation-wide approaches to optimise impactÂ
- Experience of practical application of Theory of Change and MEAL within research and development programmesÂ
- Development of successful impact case studies for organisational assessments.Â
- Experience in an analogous research institute or research-intensive higher education institutionÂ
- A fundamental understanding of the needs of the full spectrum of research users, governments, policy makers, the private sector, the third sector and publicsÂ
- Advanced analytical skills, employing and disseminating management information to inform decision-making, and specifically in evidencing impacts across policy, economic, societal and environmental dimensionsÂ
