About You

Nutrafol is seeking a project manager for our Research and Innovation team.This role will be part of the Science team and will lead the open innovation interface between the company and our scientific laboratory and research partners; including identifying new labs, experimental design, managing collaborations, maintaining records/databases, data analysis, science communication, allocation of resources, and working cross-functionally with other departments at Nutrafol.

The successful candidate will be a creative problem-solver, highly organized and proactive, as well as able to consider the big picture. This person will own the project management process for research & innovation projects including developing overall project plan, phases, workstreams, activities, deliverables, timelines, and milestones to develop consistent processes & partnerships for success.


Responsibilities:

  • Identification of & coordination with labs/external partners to conduct analytical testing, in vitro and ex vivo studies, project progression for new ingredients, botanicals processing and/or manufacturing technologies
  • Assisting with the experimental design, work plan, and data analysis using statistical methodologies
  • Communication of data, including preparation of presentations, scientific posters and manuscripts for publication
  • Work with patent attorneys to provide scientific content in drafting new patents
  • Track and manage progress on laboratory projects, managing timelines to ensure deadlines are met and roadblocks are solved for as necessary
  • Create action plans for new projects generated by internal and external requests, including requests for proposals (RFPs) and/or statements of work (SOW)
  • Responsible for coordination across labs, including requesting samples and documents, item coordination, and shipments, and managing timelines
  • Communicate directly with various internal and external partners to understand, define, and communicate progress on projects
  • Develop firm understanding of internal lab/company processes and databases, including organizing and maintaining records & manage data for reporting, NDAs/CDAs, supplier/external materials and internal presentations
  • Build and maintain effective relationships which create a high level of trust across multiple functions internally and externally
  • Participate in meetings with the principal investigator and staff to evaluate and interpret the validity of data, determine methodologies, and evaluate lab procedures impacting the quality and timeliness of research
  • Track & keep abreast of research techniques, methodologies and literature/IP that may facilitate designated research projects (current or future)
  • Monitor the performance of both the Investigator(s) and/or the Laboratory as applicable
  • Manage the initiation, draft revision, completion and maintenance of contracts, NDAs, SOWs, invoices/payments in a timely manner
  • Support maintenance of project documentation files and internal databases with generic project information and input project specific information, as directed and if applicable
  • Assist with the organization and tracking of samples: receipt, retrieval and shipping as applicable

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years experience in a scientific research/project management role
  • Expertise in cell and molecular biology
  • Publication record and preparation of scientific decks
  • Familiarity with analytical chemistry analyses (HPLC, LC/MS, NMR, UV/VIS, IR, TLC, etc.)
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and previous project management experience
  • Familiarity with gantt charts, project management software, and related tools
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and time management as well as responsiveness to both internal and external partners
  • Motivated initiative-taker with the ability to work as part of a high-level team as well as independently
  • Proven ability to learn new skills quickly and adapt to new processes smoothly

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in biology, biotechnology, chemistry or similar field
  • Dermatological &/or hair biology knowledge 
  • Academic research experience
  • Previous experience managing, analytical chemistry analyses (HPLC, LC/MS, NMR, UV/VIS, IR, TLC, etc.) a plus
  • Experience with in vitro and ex vivo research related to bioactives utilized in dietary supplements and/or topical/personal care applications
  • PMP or CPM or other project management certification
Nutrafol takes into consideration a wide range of factors in final compensation decisions, including but not limited to: skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs. The listed range is applicable only to the annual base salary and does not include additional perks, benefits, or applicable bonus eligibility comprising the total compensation package.
Salary Range:
$85,000$110,000 USD
