As a Research Manager at Upwork, you will join the ground floor of a new initiative: The Upwork Research Institute. This is a great opportunity to join a growing business inspiring change in the huge traditional staffing industry. As a Research Manager, you will help work with a cross-functional team to help create data-driven insights to change the way people work. You will report to the Managing Director, Research Institute. We are a remote first company and you may work remotely.

The annual base salary for this position in California and Washington ranges from $96,000 - $159,000. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum salary for this position in California and Washington, and individual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Additionally, this position is eligible for the annual bonus plan or sales incentive plan and eligibility to participate in our long term equity incentive program.

Your Responsibilities:
- Analyze trends, identify insights, and support the research design of the Upwork Research Institute's key reports
- Partner with external vendors to launch research to appeal to C-suite leaders
- Apply your expertise in quantitative analysis and data visualization to tell stories
- Extract important research findings from large datasets, including both quantitative analysis and ability to code qualitative open-text
- Work in partnership with other teams (Content Marketing, Communications, Sales) to translate data findings into relevant insights
What it takes to catch our eye:
- 4+ years experience in research/data analytics role with SQL experience
- Experience in research design and managing full-scale research partnerships and programs
- Familiarity with at least one research analysis software (i.e. SPSS, R, python) and predictive analytics experience
- Published research reports
- Enthusiasm for Upwork and solving the latest future of work challenges
- Experience in analysis and presentation of results in a clear and effective manner
- Interest or previous experience in future of work research topics
