Research Technician (R&D Interfaces)

Description

Solid Power is seeking a Research Technician to join our talented team working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next-generation, all solid-state rechargeable batteries. The Research Technician will be tasked with assisting R&D personnel on a multitude of projects related to the development of high energy cells. 

Job Duties

• Contribute to the development of electrodes and separators incorporating solid-state electrolytes under the guidance of staff scientists
• Produce and characterize lab-scale battery cells as part of a team of scientists, engineers, and technicians
• Construct cells and perform electrochemical evaluations, including regular work in a glove-box and dry-room environment
• Responsible for operating lab equipment plus occasional assembly and maintenance of equipment.
• Conform to all safety precautions and protocols
• Maintain thorough and accurate records of all conducted experimentation
• Clean and organize common equipment and lab areas
• Document and follow standard operating procedures as well as assist in drafting or editing procedures during process development

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical/chemical engineering, material science, or a related discipline and 2+ years’ experience in the chemical industry desirable
• Knowledge of electrochemical systems; experience with battery testing and/or EIS is a plus
• Hands-on experience performing device fabrication and process development; experience with glovebox use, air-sensitive materials, and/or cell fabrication is a plus
• Knowledge of a programming language such as Python is desired
• Excellent work ethic and ability to quickly demonstrate independence
• Ability to adapt to rapidly evolving research and development needs
• Highly analytical, detail-oriented mindset with an eye toward practical solutions
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• The candidate must be responsible and self-motivated, with a history of stable employment and performance

Salary Range: $45,000 - $85,000/year
