The Resilient Weapon Systems Department (Nuclear), N133, part of MITRE's AF Nuclear Enterprise Programs Division (N130) seeks a Senior Principal Chief Engineer (CE) to partner with leadership to deliver high impact outcomes across the Nuclear Enterprise and the Resilient Weapon Systems portfolio. The Chief Engineer will drive the technical quality of the work program and lead the ongoing evolution of technical capabilities, experimentation capabilities, and exploration within the Resilient Weapon Systems portfolio.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Technical Quality

• Drive technical quality and lead the development of technical quality standards within the Resilient Weapon Systems department.
• Provide input on the quality of goals and operationalization of the good growth strategy in partnership with business and people leadership, including the quality of staff hired, staff development, and training initiatives necessary to ensure appropriate technical quality is achieved.
• Work with project leaders to identify areas of innovation and opportunities to leverage MITRE labs capabilities.

Technical Impact

• Ensure that individual projects are driving change at a technical level while partnering with project leaders to ensure the project itself is the right level of onset during inception.
• Provide input into Mission Value Chains (MVCs) at the appropriate organizational level.

Strategy Development

• Develop a strategy to cohere and mature the N130 (Division) cyber work program.
• Communicate strategy within MITRE but also to various sponsors.

Staff Development

• Mentor, train, and develop staff within N133.
• Contribute to staff development, talent assessment, and planning (hiring, mentoring, and training needs), including senior staff.
• Develop and define cultural initiatives (impact, quality, innovation).

Partnership and Initiatives

• Lead cross-Division technical initiatives with notable complexity.
• Lead cross-Program and Project-level technical initiatives to address our Sponsors most challenging problems.
• Lead the N133 innovation program.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 10 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 7 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
• TS Clearance with the ability to be read into SCI and SAP projects.
• Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.
• A strong leadership presence and demonstrated thought leadership.
• Demonstrated proficiency and strength in verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency in virtual and live presentation of complex technical issues.
• Experience in systems engineering with expertise across the development lifecycle from concept development, through requirements definition, system development and integration, and into verification.
• Demonstrated expertise in cyber operations or cyber effects.
• An ability to creatively inject innovation into projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

• TS/SCI Clearance.
• Depth in Nuclear Mission areas.
• The candidate should also be a recognized expert in at least one of the following areas: Nuclear Effects, MS&A, Communications and Networking, Cyber Operations.
• The candidate should have mentoring experience as well as academic outreach experience.
• The candidate should have demonstrated experience working collaboratively across diverse sponsors/stakeholders to propose, shape, and lead impactful work.
• Experience with capabilities trade analysis, mission analysis, information assurance, systems integration, and understanding of the relationships between operational, technical, and system's architecture.
