Job Description

The Resource Manager will lead the Resource Management process of the firm, providing the right people on the right projects at the right time and ensuring that future capacity of the firm is accurate. The Resource Manager will be responsible for driving the scheduling process through collaboration with client service teams and will focus on employee activities and their direct effect on the financial metrics of the firm, which includes oversight of the schedule and determining proper staffing levels for engagements in order to ensure that only the best quality of service and end-product is provided by the Firm.

The Resource Manager will assist in the following responsibilities:

  • Own the Resource Management process and ensure data accuracy supporting the Resource Management function;
  • Proactively identifies and addresses scheduling issues; resolves conflicts with engagement team members to identify appropriate alternatives in a timely manner;
  • Review actual and projected utilization, anticipate availability, and proactively work to decrease unassigned time while balancing the workload of all client serving professionals supported;
  • Builds relationships and communicates continuously with client service professionals to identify personal schedule preferences and/or career development issues;
  • Lead weekly/bi-weekly calls with Directors and Managers regarding the status of projects, as well as opportunities in the pipeline;
  • Oversee and assisting with project plans for engagements, ensuring updates are implemented accurately and timely;
  • Analyze and challenge resourcing requests against key engagement metrics to ensure appropriate allocation of resources;
  • Educate client servicing personnel on the resourcing process;
  • Identify and implement improvements in practices, processes and reporting;
  • Asist with reviewing team members’ time regularly to ensure time spent is reasonable based upon time allocated within the project plans;
  • Assist with project teams composition to ensure appropriate team mix/leverage in order to achieve Firm margin and development objectives while maximizing utilization;
  • Assist with identifying upcoming availability and opportunity within segments that align with teams skills and goals and assist with communicating availability/opportunity to Firm Leadership;
  • Work with the Operations Manager to identify skill or resource gaps within client-facing teams for communication to the Talent Acquisition team;
  • Support the Operations Manager by providing key data and assisting with resolving conflicts, as directed by the Scheduling Committee;
  • Review schedule and project plan data proactively to maintain high degree of timelines, accuracy, and completeness;
  • Collaborate with team members both virtually and in-person;
  • Ability to identify Talent-related risk and consult with appropriate leaders and teams to determine appropriate course of action.

Professional Requirements:

  • 3-5 years experience in resource and/or project management, with a strong preference for client service experience in a professional services organization
  • An understanding of the basic drivers and key KPI’s of a professional services firm – particularly around production and utilization
  • Required to obtain RMO Certification within first 6-months of employment
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office tools on Widows platform: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint and Teams

New York City Salary Range: Low: $90,000 - High: $120,000 (NYC)
