Respiratory Therapy Manager

The therapist assumes the responsibility for all respiratory care modalities, initiates and conducts therapeutic procedures; maintains patient records; and selects, assembles, checks, and operates equipment.

Responsibilities

• Initiates, monitors and maintains life support systems
• Ensures department compliance within facility guidelines
• Ensures staff compliance with facility and regulatory agencies guidelines
• Oversees operations and standards of practice within the department
• Assists subordinate staff when needed
• Ensures adequate staff coverage for hours of operation
• Performs staff scheduling and develop assignment rotation
• Monitors outcomes of various respiratory care procedures
• Establishes and maintains respiratory equipment par-level and required maintenance records
• Troubleshoots equipment malfunction
• Conducts quality assurance audits
• Conducts quality control monitoring
• Aides in the development and implementation of quality improvement programs
• Performs random resident care compliance audits
• Participates in on-going educational programs to enhance clinical competency for self and staff
• Provides routine clinical care including ventilator checks, tracheostomy care, suctioning, resident evaluations, care plan development, respiratory medication delivery, supply changes and equipment management.  
• Actively participates in Quality Assurance and reports concerns to supervisor.
• Interprets Company policy and makes decisions based on the application of those policies where applicable.
• Exercise unimpaired judgment in the interest of the Company.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be a certified or registered Respiratory Therapist
• Licensed in the state of Michigan
• Completion of a two-year accredited Respiratory Program  
• Current CPR certification
• Preferred two years experience in long term care
