Biscom focuses on transforming the way companies share information by providing a fast, reliable, and secure document delivery solution. In 1986, Biscom introduced the world's first network-based computer fax server. Today, the company has evolved from its humble beginnings into a leading secure communication and messaging platform that powers the most complex requirements in industries, including healthcare and financial services, where security and speed matters most. Biscom received an investment from private equity firm ParkerGale at the tail-end of 2023 to help support an exciting new chapter of growth for the business.
Biscom is seeking a talented and ambitious Revenue Accountant to join the expanding finance team. This newly created, highly visible position reports to the Senior Revenue Manager and will be responsible for revenue related accounting close activities, creating financial presentations, and will actively contribute to a transforming order-to-cash workflow including both process improvements and standing up new financial systems. The right candidate will have a strong technical accounting background balanced with the ability to think creatively and operationally. This person will have a drive to want to learn and gain marketable expertise around ever-evolving revenue recognition policies at a technology company. We are transforming the way we do business and looking for a motivated team player to help us bring our vision of the new finance organization at Biscom to life.
Outcomes - What You'll Accomplish
In your first 6 weeks, you will:
- Meet with every member of the accounting and finance team to learn about the state of the function and develop working norms. It sounds simple, but we believe that a great revenue accounting analyst will reap the benefits of getting to know the core business and how it operates.
- Learn the basics around Biscom's accounting operations and the financial close process.
- Review the company's documented accounting policies and assist with mapping of current process workflows.
- Connect with members of our Sales, Customer Success, Marketing, Product, Finance and Technology teams to understand our offerings and why our customers value them.
In your first 3 months, you will:
- Assist with Month-End Close. Prepare journal entries and analysis associated with the monthly and annual close.
- Create financial presentations and analyze the underlying data to bring stories about the business to life.
- Reconcile assigned accounts by the required deadline and maintain appropriate documentation to pass an audit with flying colors.
- Document and help design order-to-cash workflows.
- Flex into understanding the crossover between sales and accounting/finance by reviewing sales agreements and supporting revenue accounting conclusions.
Within 6 months, you will:
- Assess the state of "what is" in terms of accounting policies and process workflows with the rest of the team and suggest and implement new ways to update and improve them.
- Analyze and develop meaningful financial reports.
- Provide flexible support to the accounting team when needed. Take the initiative to fully cross-train with other team roles.
- Work on special projects as they come up with the Senior Revenue Manager.
Within 12 months, you will:
- Assist the finance team in their analysis of Biscom's customer base to understand contract renewal opportunities and risks in partnership with the leadership team.
- Partner with sales and marketing to help create meaningful budgets and forecasts that reflect a demand generation waterfall, and cascade that through the sales pipeline and sales rep efficiency model.
- Be a key contributor to a successful budget process by providing departmental budgets to leaders for which they can manage to and track their performance against.
On an ongoing basis, you will:
- Maintain and update accounting records and files
- Analyze budgets and create expense reports
- Post transactions and categorize records in the general ledger
- Conduct month-end and year-end closures
- Prepare documents for audits
- Apply new accounting policies and ensure compliance with rules and regulations
- Report to the Senior Revenue Manager and work to improve financial processes

Ability to coach and develop people: You will play an integral part in coaching members of the sales organization in their current roles and supporting them to improve performance and preparing them for future roles and success.
Advisory and diplomatic skills: You will build credibility and gravitas. You will have a compelling and authentic communication style. You will have the ability to make people believe you are there to help and hold them accountable. You must possess the intellectual heft and poise in communication style to be an advisor to Head of Sales and the leadership team of the company.
