Job Description

Cockroach Labs is the creator of CockroachDB, the most highly evolved cloud-native, distributed SQL database on the planet that scales fast, survives anything, and thrives anywhere. We created CockroachDB to unshackle teams from the constraints of their database. Join us on our mission to enable every developer to build world-changing applications!

About the Role

The Revenue Operations Manager will drive the incentive compensation process through the development of new compensation plans, support of existing plans, as well as the creation of policies and processes and the analysis of plan effectiveness. In addition, this role will lead the quota deployment process annually, as well as during periodic updates throughout the fiscal year. The Revenue Operations Manager will have significant responsibility and interaction with senior management as well as the considerable opportunity to have a large impact within a growing Revenue Operations organization.

Cockroach Labs has a hybrid work model, with Roachers that are local to one of our offices coming in on Tuesdays and Thursdays and working flexibly the rest of the week. While we’ve learned valuable lessons working remotely, nothing can replace the connection, creativity, and fun that occurs when Roachers get together and we are committed to fostering a workplace that encourages collaboration and allows us all to do our best work.

For this role, you must be based near San Francisco, New York, or Austin or be willing to relocate and will be expected to come into the office two days a week.

You Will
  • Manage the Revenue compensation process for all teams. This includes understanding and applying the compensation plans consistently, and maintaining quotas and rates, ensuring commission calculations comply with the plan.
  • Partner with Revenue leadership to ensure the compensation plans are in alignment with company strategies.
  • Lead the design process of compensation plans with Revenue leadership, including plan components, SPIFFs and bonuses.
  • Participate in the Revenue planning process with Revenue leadership and Finance, including resourcing and quota setting.

  • Partner with sales leadership to identify quota credit and/or pay discrepancies.
  • Receive, research and respond to inquiries on discrepancies and facilitate explanation.
  • Create additional training related materials to foster a greater understanding of the compensation plans and commission structure.
  • Create an effective process to manage existing compensation plan details as well as capture new plan details.
  • Ensure appropriate level of compensation governance based on Cockroach Labs’  compensation policy.
  • Ensure plan requirements are accurately documented and communicated to leadership, individual contributors, and Finance.
  • Monitor and track key Revenue performance drivers such as activities, contests and other incentives; design and drive KPIs to track the effectiveness of plans.
  • Participate in the design/implementation process with Finance for system enhancements and complete user acceptance testing for calculation logic, data tables and reporting in the incentive compensation system and related CRM and revenue tools.
You Have
  • 5-7+ years of experience in compensation, financial analysis, sales support, or related fields.
  • Detail oriented with excellent analytic skills and interest in identifying and fixing problems.
  • Superior analytical skills, in-depth experience with financial statement analysis and a strong understanding of corporate finance concepts.

  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to quickly summarize data findings and effectively communicate results to management.
  • Strong PC/technical skills (Advanced Excel, etc.); experience on a sales compensation software a plus.
  • Ability to complete multiple takes, establish appropriate priorities and meet deadlines with limited supervision.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced, fast growing company where adaptability is imperative.
  • BA/BS in Business Administration, Economics or equivalent practical experience.
Our Benefits
  • Competitive Health Insurance Coverage (for you & your dependents!)
  • Paid Parental Leave (with baby bucks)
  • Flex Fridays
  • Flexible PTO & Flexible Hours
  • Learning & Development Budget
  • Relocation Support (as applicable)

The annual anticipated base salary range for U.S. candidates for this role is USD $125,000 to $170,000, plus commission if a sales role. We set standard ranges for all U.S.-based roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. In order to be compliant with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, we share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location.  Actual salaries may vary and fall outside of this range depending on factors such as a candidate’s qualifications, geographic location, skills, experience, and competencies.
