As the Revenue Recognition Accounting Associate Director, you will serve as a key resource, leading technical accounting consultations with the sales teams on compliance with revenue recognition guidance per ASC 606. This role will partner with the sales and legal teams to provide accounting insight during the negotiation process and with the accounting team to ensure revenue is recorded appropriately. Your responsibilities will include documenting the complexities associated with the technical accounting conclusions, circulating best practices, and maintaining critical revenue recognition accounting policies.

Job Specifications:

  • Lead technical accounting consultations with the sales team during the sales negotiation process, highlighting the revenue recognition implications of proposed contractual language.
  • Provide guidance on best practices to the sales team for structuring contractual terms and conditions to ensure the expectation of the sales opportunity aligns with revenue recognition criteria.
  • Read and interpret complex sales contracts and identify relevant issues to determine appropriate accounting treatment in accordance with ASC 606.
  • Research, document, justify and present revenue recognition conclusions associated with complex sales contracts.
  • Work closely with the corporate accounting team to ensure revenue is properly recognized.
  • Refresh corporate revenue policies to address trends noted in sales negotiations or updated FASB guidelines or SEC reporting requirements.
  • Provide ongoing training to cross-functional organization members.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Accounting with Big 4 accounting firm experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge and thorough understanding of revenue recognition guidelines in ASC 606.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present and articulate complex financial analysis in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, with ability to bring assigned tasks to resolution.
  • Strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and the ability to problem-solve and drive change.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and work in a highly collaborative environment.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future

The budgeted amount range for this position in the State of Connecticut and New York City is $140,000 - $175,000.
