Risk Intelligence Analyst
Job Description
Summary of PositionFalvey Insurance Group is one of the largest Marine Insurance MGAs in the country and was founded on the pillars of Technology and Operational Excellence. The Risk Intelligence Analyst role is critical to the expanding strategy of the Loss Prevention department. The ideal candidate will experience in the insurance industry with an understanding of global supply chains. The candidate will be responsible for staying up to date on current events, collecting and reading data, determining trends, forecast, and putting together predictive analytics to mitigate risks associated with our international transportation and logistics operations.
Position Functions
The role will have the following primary responsibilities:
- Claim Trend Analysis:
- Research, evaluate, and prioritize risks related to transportation and logistics processes.
- Natural Catastrophes and Weather event analysis (predicative and impact assessment)
- Global Hazard mapping analysis (trends and statistics)
- Global incident mapping
- Qualitative & Quantitative Analysis: Analyze historical and real-time data to determine patterns and trends; and develop predictive models to anticipate and prevent potential risks.
- Aiding in the construction and maintenance of internal data reports and presentations outlining risk assessments, mitigation strategies, and KPIs. As well as maintain reports with real – time activities and outcomes.
- Underwriting book & account portfolio performance assessment and composite scoring
- Development of proprietary internal Risk Platform:
- Collaborating with our internal IT and Business Intelligence team
- Develop training materials and conduct sessions for internal stakeholders.
- Solicit feedback from users for on-going improvements.
- Vendor vetting and performance assessment.
- Assisting with other Special projects (client and internal)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to contextually switch between technical and plain language, share knowledge, and work effectively in a team environment. Excellent comprehension skills to efficiently develop a connected understanding of business processes and goals. Excellent time management skills, being able to prioritize multiple tasks at once.
Ability to work independently and execute a variety of critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Applicant must be familiar with relational data models.
Demonstrated ability to derive meaningful insights from unfamiliar datasets.
Minimum Requirements
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, Adobe, spreadsheet software, and general computer skills is required.
- 3 years working in insurance, international trade, or supply chain management
Other Requirements
- 3 years of previous professional experience in data flow and analysis
- Experience with BI Platforms (Power BI, Tableau, or DOMO), a plus
Physical Requirements
Must be able to sit for long periods of times, communicate via telephone, and operate a computer, and copy machine.

Hours of Operation and Working Conditions
This position supports our marketing efforts internationally. This position's work hours are Monday through Friday 9am - 5pm, in a hybrid work environment. Our hybrid environment is 3 days within our business-casual office environment. Of these 3 days in the office, Wednesday and Thursday are required, and employees may work from home the other 2 days. Our employees choose their schedule. This position requires occasional flexibility for working additional hours to accomplish project objectives.
