Risk Management Analyst

This position is responsible for the investigation and resolution of claims and/or litigation involving property damage and personal injury. This position will be located within Alabama Power's Birmingham Division but will provide support in both the Birmingham Division and the Eastern Division, as well as other geographic areas of the Company as needed. Applicants with previous experience in insurance, claims, litigation, and/or related fields are encouraged to apply.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Duties include conducting/assisting with related investigations, negotiating/settling property damage and personal injury claims while maintaining a high degree of customer satisfaction
  • Serve as Company representative/witness in depositions, mediation, and trials
  • The candidate must be dependable, cooperative, have the ability to multi-task, and react positively to rapidly changing priorities and job assignments
  • Assist our Public Safety Awareness team with community events as needed
  • Candidate must be available for a rotational 24-hour call out for the purposes of investigating accidents.

Job Experience and Education

  • B.S degree in Business or related field preferred or equivalent work experience in a related field
  • Graduate degree is a plus
  • Prior experience in investigative and interview techniques, photography, and preservation of evidence skills are a plus
  • Experience and/or knowledge relative to electrical systems operation a plus
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Candidate must demonstrate above average oral and written communication skills, excellent customer relation, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously from beginning through completion with little or no direction
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Applications and possess above average computer skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and be able to effectively communicate with all levels of management and society in a professional manner
  • Experience with customer complaints and resolutions
  • Working knowledge of the law (tort, contract, statutory, common and civil) is desirable

Position Details :

  • The successful candidate will be located within Alabama Power's Birmingham Division and will report to this location at least three days a week. Please note, this is subject to change.
