Risk management is critical to effectively serving our customers' financial needs while protecting the Bank, achieving our strategic goals, and safeguarding our brand and reputation. The Risk Management Leadership Program (RLP) allows recent college graduates to gain experience and exposure to workplace roles that are designed to ensure they're maximizing their current and potential skill sets. With exposure to senior leadership, performance feedback and coaching, mentoring relationships, and social and team-building opportunities, program participants also develop networks they can continue throughout their career. Upon program completion, you'll have access to potential placement opportunities such as Enterprise Risk Analyst, Financial Crimes Analyst and Credit Risk Analyst.

In this position, you'll learn how we work across lines of business to provide effective challenge and oversight for processes and products. You'll learn about laws and regulations that apply to the financial industry, ensuring Fifth Third's compliance with applicable regulations. Get meaningful work experience and targeted educational opportunities to develop future organizational leaders in a rotation-based model that will give you exposure to multiple business areas.

What You'll Do

The Risk Management Leadership Program consists of four rotations over a two-year period, giving program participants exposure to various areas across the risk division such as operational risk, compliance, financial crimes, credit risk and others. In the Risk Management Leadership Program, participants will learn processes for identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks. This program will help to build the foundation of a strong career, developing an understanding of the risks inherent to financial institutions and learning strategies and methods for mitigating those risks.

Your days will be filled with fast-paced on-the-job training and development as a vital part of the team. In meetings, you won't be expected to be seen and not heard; your ideas will be vital to the company's strategies going forward. You'll meet with senior leaders, soaking in their experience and insights, while developing your own skills based on their guidance. This isn't a role where you'll be making copies and fetching coffee for employees. You'll be a valued part of the team, gaining valuable experience and getting first-hand insights on how to run a major banking institution.

Job Duties

• Perform work assignments as determined by the assignment leader while rotating through various departments. Examples include:
  • Conduct the annual review & analysis of key risk indicators across bank-wide processes
  • Research and analysis of macro-economic trends impacting the commercial portfolio
  • Manage privacy breaches in collaboration with the line of business
  • Aggregate reporting into board-level presentations

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Upon hire, a completed four-year undergraduate degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or Humanities - psychology, criminal justice, sociology, pre-law (or other relevant major) with a graduation date within 2022-2023
• A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
• Campus involvement/leadership experience
• Previous internship or co-op program experience preferred
• Basic Excel proficiency (data entry, formatting, charts, basic formulas, Vlookup)

• Ability to complete both guided and self-directed learning activities

• Strong communicator and developer of interpersonal connections
• Ability to connect the dots across lines of business and defense in the bank
• Ability to identify issues, think critically to solve problems
• Desire to lead meetings, presentations with a broad audience
