The Risk division is responsible for credit, market and operational risk, model risk, independent liquidity risk, and insurance throughout the firm.

The Operational Risk Department at Goldman Sachs is an independent risk management function responsible for developing and implementing a standardized framework to identify, measure, and monitor operational risk across the firm.

This Associate, Operational Resilience role is for a professional with subject matter expertise dedicated to actively employ and strengthen the components of the firm's operational risk management framework. This role will be responsible to continuously identify, monitor, measure and assess the firm's global operational resilience landscape. The ideal candidate needs to be an energetic self-starter that can liaise with all divisions within the firm both regionally and globally with experience and knowledge in the development and implementation of a financial institution's operational resilience framework.

Responsibilities:

  • Play an integral part in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the firm's global operational resilience framework to ensure a front-to-back approach to operational readiness and response to business disruption events
  • Manage firmwide tests of recovery strategies to include home working environment, recovery site, and function handover.
  • Develop tabletop and integrated tests that vary in complexity to ensure that resilience strategies and response teams are adequately prepared for severe but plausible scenarios.
  • Execute against resilience planning uplift activities to ensure they are executed on time and with the expected level of quality
  • Conduct analyses of the firm adherence to different regulatory requirements and frameworks for Operational Resilience
  • Establish and maintain qualitative/quantitative operational resilience metrics.
  • Maintain ongoing monitor, triggers, escalation and mitigating actions of the relevant metrics
  • Engage and liaise with internal stakeholder groups (HCM, CWS, OGS, Operations, Engineering, etc.)
  • Well-verse in operational risk methods and practices with the ability to connect and align the firm's operational risk management processes with the operational resilience framework
  • Identify and drive initiatives that improve the risk management activities at the firm
  • Be apprised of operational resilience events and data collection including reporting when necessary; perform detailed reviews of trends to identify significant risks and ensure monitoring and remediation
  • Prepare and present commercially effective strategies and present to Operational Risk senior management and business stakeholders

Qualifications

  • 3 to 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Management of continuity/resilience program at a similar financial institution
  • Understanding of key flows and functions of a global Investment Bank
  • Experience in setting strategy and working with cross organization working groups to implement strategy
  • Understand of industry risk models and resilience/recovery capabilities and how they form part of a coordinated framework
  • Understanding of the resilience regulatory environment globally with focus in the UK and US
  • Strong client / stakeholder management skills with strong interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to influence team members inside and outside of immediate area of responsibilities and from a wide range of organizational backgrounds
  • Strong project management skills, including monitoring and reporting project performance
  • Strong analytical abilities, including the use of data and visualization of data to aid strategy discussion
  • Flexible/Adaptable with ability to work during crisis scenarios
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with a strong delivery focus
  • Familiarity with enterprise risk and operational risk management best-practices and controls
