Description - Robotics Designer
A highly motivated robotics designer to contribute to and be part of a team whose main objective will be to design and develop new, and refine existing systems, for automation in oil and gas drill floor activities, with the primary emphasis being improved safety, efficiency, and robust execution of handing operations.
This role will be a technically challenging one in a dynamic environment. The role will present the successful candidate with opportunities to contribute to the continued success of NOV, a company with an unmatched pedigree and a huge legacy of innovation and technological advancement in the Oil and Gas Industry.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities will fall into two main areas: in-house, and outsourced automation development
- Mechanical design solutions with CREO and drawing creation per NOV standard
- Teamcenter (PLM) Item creation and processing
- Mechanical systems design to support control system components (Mounts, Boxes, Supports)
- Communicate with vendors: provide drawing packages for quoting and answer vendor questions
- 3D printing knowledge for prototype testing (Prusa MK3, PETG)
- Design for 3D printing and testing to acquire results that translate to mfg.
- Prototype parts procurement
- Communicate with onsite fabricators/Assemblers (Test fixtures/Equipment)
- Assembly, test, and trouble shoot prototype designs
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications / Skills:
- 4-5 years 3D modeling experience
- 4-5 years' experience creating drawings
- Location: 6390 N. Eldridge Pkwy. Houston TX 77042. Other travel to Navasota location may be required.
- Hybrid schedule (3 days in the office and 2 days remote work) based on the need of the department.
Preferred Qualifications / Skills:
- Knowledge of Oil and Gas drilling rig processes
- 1-2 years 3D printing knowledge.
- Experience of hydraulic systems and servo control
- CREO modeling
