Robotics Software Engineer

Boston Dynamics is seeking a Robotics Software Engineer to join the Stretch Behavior team. Our team develops algorithms and behaviors that enable Stretch to automate warehouse operations, including truck unloading (running already at customer sites!). In this role, you will primarily write software for the robot, but will also need to reason beyond the robot, working on integration with off-board systems. You will have the opportunity to work with and be mentored by senior team members to understand needs and requirements and to help design and implement software solutions.

Day to day activities:

• Design, write, analyze, and debug code, including testing on development robots
• Work within a team to gather, refine, and document requirements
• Work across teams with controls, hardware, safety, and ops to define and test interfaces
• Communicate designs and progress with the larger team

Desired skills:

• BS or MS in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
• Proficiency in C++ and Python
• Familiarity with linux development environment and version control (eg git)
• Experience debugging robotics systems, including both hardware and software
• Strong personal skills (communication, well motivated)
• Exposure to ROS, LCM, or another message passing framework
