Rotational Associate Program - Mobile Network (5G)

Intelsat's Rotational Associate Program is a highly competitive two-year program that provides recent graduates the opportunity to develop their technical skills in the communications industry at the forefront of satellite innovation. As a Rotational Associate, you will work for 8 months at a time, over a two-year period, in three different teams and experience the day-to-day responsibilities of the different career paths and work with different teams as they collaborate to achieve their goals.

Intelsat's Rotational Associate Program
In this track, you will utilize your education and skills and have the opportunity to make a lasting impact working with the Systems Innovation, Product Development, and Product Management teams. Upon successful completion of the 24-month program, you will be promoted and placed accordingly into a role that will align with and build upon your experience.

Rotational Associate Program Description:

• 2-year program
• Three 8-month rotations in different departments
• Full time placement upon successful completion of program
• Hybrid environment (minimum 3 days in office location)

Minimum Requirements:

• Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism, and maturity in the workplace
• Effective communicator in both written and spoken English
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Proficiency in use of MS Office Suite
• 4-year degree, Fall 2022 or Spring 2023 graduate

Preferred Qualifications (in addition to the minimum requirements outlined above)

• Bachelor's degree or higher in electrical, electronic, communications engineering or systems engineering with a focus on communications
• Technical understanding of various types of communications systems (wired, wireless, satellite), with a focus on wireless systems including high level architectures and components
• Basic knowledge of the wireless communication industry, technology trends (5G, 3GPP standards, etc), and use cases (e.g. Private 5G, fixed wireless, satellite direct-to-device systems). Background in antenna systems is highly desired.
• Demonstrated analytical ability: able to define a problem space or requirements, propose solutions to those requirements, and present solution and tradeoffs made relative to the target requirements
• An aptitude, interest, and curiosity to know how things work, to learn and understand technical detail, and to create messaging and materials to communicate telecommunications solutions to customers
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite
• Action oriented; Ability to work independently
• Ability to interact effectively with people of various cultural backgrounds
• Master's Degree

Position Description:
In this track, the associate will help Intelsat define the technology, products, and services that provide our customers resilient, global, 5G communications services through the integration of satellite communications and terrestrial wireless (5G) technology and standards. Working with technical and product teams, the associate will support development of the core technology and product roadmap for 5G products and services and help to communicate the value proposition of incorporating mobile network technologies into Intelsat's satellite ecosystem.
Job Responsibilities
Months 1-8 as an Associate, 5G System/Terminals-Innovation
You will work with the Systems Innovation team to develop a reference architecture for a 5G satellite terminal (ground segments) and its integration with space networks in an end-to-end system context.
Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing technical support to programs and general studies in 5G system engineering for integration of terrestrial and satellite systems.
• Performing systems engineering analysis for requirement trades, design and integration trades and end-to-end performance analysis.
• Contributing to the definition of technology development requirements.
• Supporting activities related to 5G system integration.
• Participating in reference terminal performance specification development.
• Working with suppliers with regard to the testing and acceptance of the 5G satcom terminal.
• Supporting end-to-end tests across a range of satellite and 5G scenarios.
• Supporting test concepts from planning through to commissioning of new test equipment.
• Contributing to test plan development as well as testing and data analysis on new terminal technologies.
• Generating test reports, including documenting test processes.
• Support terminal architecture design utilizing embedded modem SW and switching functions that enable multi-network, multi-orbit operation across a wide range of use cases.

Months 8-16 as an Associate, Mobile Network Products-Product Development

• Working within Product Development and Product Program Management, support the development of the product roadmap for 5G-related products and services via the agile Lean Portfolio Manage (LPM) process.
• Define key capabilities and features required for Intelsat to differentiate our solutions in the market and remain competitive - collaborate with business unit partners to shape product and service messaging.
• Support testing and demonstration of 5G-linked product concepts, including the 5G next generation Smart Edge terminal.

Months 16-24 as an Associate, Product Management-Networks Business Unit
Leveraging the knowledge acquired during the first two rotations, support the 5G product management function by defining specific satellite 5G product and service offerings.

• Support product go-to-market strategy development in close coordination with key stakeholders
• Help identify key partners, formulate and support solution partner agreement negotiations
• Define and document the product; further refine product definition through testing and beta phases
• Assist product Marketing in the development of sales and training collateral, both internal and customer-facing
