Job Description

Intelsat's Rotational Associate Program is a highly competitive two-year program that provides recent graduates the opportunity to develop their technical skills in the communications industry at the forefront of satellite innovation. As a Rotational Associate, you will work for 8 months at a time, over a two-year period, in three teams and experience the day-to-day responsibilities of the various career paths and work with different teams as they collaborate to achieve their goals.

Intelsat's Rotational Associate Program
In this track, you will utilize your education and skills and have the opportunity to make a lasting impact working with the Accounting Operations, Financial Reporting and Business Transformation teams. Upon successful completion of the 24-month program, you will be promoted and placed accordingly into a role that will align with and build upon your experience.

Rotational Associate Program Description:
  • 2-year program
  • Three 8-month rotations in Accounting, Financial Reporting and Software Engineering departments
  • Full time placement upon completion of program
  • Hybrid environment (minimum 3 days in office location)

Minimum Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Visio and PowerPoint)
  • Technical aptitude and ability to adapt to new tools, computer software and applications
  • Basic understanding of business processes and systems
  • Ability to conduct market research and communicate findings in clear and concise manner
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism, and maturity in the workplace
  • Ability to conduct system analysis and document processes, requirements, and gaps
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a strong sense of deadline and deliverable urgency
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Effective communicator in both written and spoken English

Preferred Qualifications
  • Leadership experience and participation in extracurricular activities
  • Familiarity with Accounting/Financial principles and supporting systems
  • CPA certification or CPA candidate
  • Experience with data visualization, such as Tableau
  • Familiarity with systems that support common agile and software development project (e.g.., JIRA)
  • Knowledge of a programming language (e.g., Python)

In the Technical Accounting Track, you will utilize your education and skills and will have the opportunity to make a lasting impact working with Intelsat's Accounting Operations, Financial Reporting and Business Transformation teams. Job Responsibilities
Months 1-8 as an Associate, Accounting Operations
You will support the Accounting Operations team by performing general accounting activities for assigned functions.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
  • Preparing journal entries with referenced supporting documentation in accordance with best practices.
  • Conducting account analysis and research to ensure accuracy and understanding of account balances and activity.
  • Preparing various reconciliations, schedules, and reports supporting month-end/quarter-end financials. Use accounting knowledge to provide correcting entries to management for any reconciling items and works to minimize such discrepancies on a go-forward basis
  • Creating and/or maintaining process documentation and procedures for assigned tasks.
  • Providing support on special projects as needed.

Months 9-16 as an Associate, Financial Reporting
You will support the Financial Reporting team as a key contributor in preparing the Company's quarterly/annual financial statements, performing SOX testing, and assisting with statutory audits.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
  • Preparing the Company's quarterly and annual reports, including financial statements, footnotes and MD&A (similar to SEC filings on Forms 10-Q and 10-K)
  • Conducting walkthroughs and performing tests of controls for the Company's significant SOX 404 internal control processes
  • Preparing and/or assisting with the coordination of statutory audits
  • Special projects and analysis, as needed

Months 17-24 as an Associate, ERP Systems
You will support the Business Transformation Team as a liaison and collaborator in analyzing, interpreting and reporting the financial system user requirements to support informed decision making, automation of manual activities, and deployment of new and enhanced functionality that streamlines how Intelsat operates.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
  • Utilizing finance and accounting knowledge from prior rotations to identify reporting enhancements that can provide improved analytics and assist in expediting reconciliations during the monthly close cycle
  • Conducting business process discovery sessions to determine requirements for system design; collaborating with manager to establish action plans to address them
  • Assisting in review of existing disparate processes to identify and recommend opportunities to develop a unified end-to-end data flow
  • Studying, learning and training to develop intimate knowledge of Finance and Accounting processes and the systems that support them
  • Supporting the development, testing and training of users on new and enhanced functionality deployed across Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) systems
  • Managing multiple projects by effectively prioritizing work and communicating workload issues to management
  • Supporting the team to maintain the operating environment to derive the highest performance
