Ruby Developer

ECS is seeking a Ruby Developer to work in our Albuquerque, NM office.

Job Description:

ECS is looking for an Application Programmer II, providing support for a major laboratory in Albuquerque, NM! This is a remote position, but the candidate must be able to travel on-site as needed.

As an Application Programmer II, you will be working with a team developing and/or maintaining web-based applications using tools such as Ruby on Rails or Java. You will analyze functional business applications and design specifications for functional activities; translate detailed design into application systems; test, debug, and refine applications to produce the required product; prepare required documentation, including both program-level and user-level documentation; enhance applications to improve performance and add functionality; and provide technical direction to engineers to ensure program deadlines are met.

To accomplish this, you will need six years' experience in Linux environments using Ruby on Rails, relational database, experience in HTML, CSS, Javascript, Data Structures, and Algorithms. And finally, knowledge of, and desire to follow IT Operations best practices and procedures such as issue management and incident response.

Required Skills:

• BS/BA and six years of experience in Linux environments, relational database, experience in HTML, CSS, Javascript, Data Structures, and Algorithms.
• In lieu of degree, an additional 6 years of experience is applicable.
• US. citizenship is required per Contract to obtain and maintain U.S. Department of Energy Clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L clearance.
• Knowledge of, and desire to follow IT Operations best practices and procedures such as issue management and incident response.
• Experience working in full stack application development.
• Experience developing web-based applications using Ruby on Rails, Java may substitute for some Ruby experience.
• Experience using Agile development methodologies.
• Effective oral and written communications skills along with a strong customer service commitment.
• Familiar with information security best practices.

Desired Skills:

• Experience integrating front end and back-end APIs to allow agnostic use of other front-end frameworks.
• Experience with Rails testing frameworks such as Rspec and Git.
