This position is on-site at our Plant in Jeffersonville, IN. To be considered for this position, you must reside within commuting distance to our Plant.Â
Job Overview:
We are looking for a Safety Manager to join our manufacturing team at our Plant in Jeffersonville, IN. In this newly created role, the Safety Manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance for all aspects of health, safety and environmental issues to support EHS functions and People Operations. This role reports to the onsite Director of People Operations.
What you’ll be doing:
Safety
- Along with plant leadership, create and execute plant safety-plan, with the primary responsibility of driving a safety-oriented culture
- Ensure compliance with all Federal, State and local environmental and safety regulations.
- Primary point of contact for Safety training programs; conducting new hire orientation and other Safety training programs.Â
- Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.
- Complete and maintain all Safety recordkeeping for the facility.
- Comply with all Federal, State and local reporting requirements.
- Monitors facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.
- Assist with the development, implementation, and adherence of inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections.
- Monitors compliance with safety procedures.
- Lead investigations when an accident or near miss occurs and assure that all required paperwork is complete and follow up with root cause analysis/ corrective action to prevent reoccurrence.
- Ensures that safety data sheets (SDS) are maintained and readily accessible when needed.
- Maintains records of discharge of or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required.
- Lead and coach safety committee members
- Maintain on site PPE, safety supplies and first aid cabinetsÂ
- Manage staff uniforms (i.e order, track, monitor returns)
- Partner with the People Ops Director and Legal team to lead all aspects of worker’s compensation related tasks.
- OSHA reporting & record keeping (ex.OSHA 300 log, OSHA Forms 301, 300A)
- Primary point of contact for cleaning services and ensuring breakrooms, restrooms and cleaning supplies are properly stocked.
Staffing
- Partner with the management team on staffing needs and lead recruitment efforts of our Material Handler positionsÂ
- Recruitment includes coordination of job postings, reviewing resumes, coordinating interviews
- Partner with Director, People Operations when onboarding new hires, which includes scheduling orientation, setup and monitoring through HRIS systems and ensuring all pre employment requirements are met (i.e. drug test, background check)
- Work with Director, People Operations to complete I-9 paperwork for new employees
Skills/Qualifications:Â
- 3+ years of Safety Management experience in an manufacturing plant environmentÂ
- Experience supporting People Operations or HR functionÂ
- Bachelor's degree, strongly preferred.Â
- Combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Experience using Google Suite, preferredÂ
- OSHA 30 certification, preferred
- Excellent knowledge of all areas of local and state HR policy, process, their practical application and best practice.
- Ability to influence to a high level through excellent listening and questioning skills.
- An empathetic listener and persuasive, tactful speaker, with the ability to build trust, respect and credibility quickly.
- The ability to build business partnering relationships with key business stakeholders at all levels.
- High levels of accuracy and attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills.
- Calmness under pressure and when dealing with potentially difficult situations.
- Proficient administration and IT abilities.
- Knowledge of ADP Workforce, Greenhouse, and Bamboo a plus
