As Axon’s Safety Specialist it will be your mission to protect the lives our employees and associated personnel by mitigating unnecessary risks and building a culture where health and safety are always top of mind. In an effort to Win Right you will also be responsible for policy development, training, implementation, and enforcement, ensuring all protocols are followed appropriately. The Safety Specialist is a key role within Axon, supporting the growth of the company while maintaining compliance and effectively eliminating risk along the way.
What You’ll DoLocation: Onsite at our Scottsdale, Arizona office
Reports to: Â EHS Leader
- Develop JSA’s to identify safety hazards and risks
- Work with management and their departments to determine best course of action for risk reduction
- Investigate incidents and prevent re-occurrence recurrence
- Manage Emergency Response Teams for all US facilities
- Manage health and safety for all Arizona facilities
- Assist EHS Leader with managing health and safety for US facilities
- Audit facilities to ensure compliance with regulation and Axon policy
- Maintain health and safety metrics including OSHA logs, incident rates, etc.
- Analyze trends and identify opportunities for improvement
- Audit contractors and maintain Contractor Safety Program
- Perform IH studies
- Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety programs
- Train employees on procedures and policies
- Enforce rules and regulations
- Five or more (5+) years of Industrial Health and Safety experience.
- Bachelors Degree in Occupational Health and Safety (ASP, CSP, or similar degree may be considered)
- Required technical and analytical skills
- Project management
- Corporate program development, integration, and management
- Ability to adapt regulation to real world applications
- Problem solving
- Extensive knowledge of health and safety regulations including OSHA, DOT, NFPA
- Well versed in ergonomics and emergency response
- Development and implementation of JSA’s
- CAD experience a plus
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to Join Forces with all levels of employees and any team through out the organization
- Ability to be customer facing
- Ability to think “outside the box” to develop unorthodox solutions
- Experience operating and instructing on forklifts and aerial lifts

The Pay: Axon is a total compensation company, meaning compensation is made up of base pay, bonus, and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD 60,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 100,000 in the highest geographic market. The on target earnings range for this role is between USD 70,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 120,000 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
