Job Summary:

As a Safety Specialist you will be responsible for supporting overall EHS leadership and compliance programs across multiple operating companies to ensure the safety and health of personnel and facilities and responsible environmental stewardship is practiced.

Essential Duties &Responsibilities:

• Coordinates incident investigations as needed and leads the team in identification of root causes and implementation of corrective actions. Ensures appropriate reports and documentation is maintained.  
• Develops and implements written safety and health programs, policies, and procedures
• Develops and presents various health and safety training.
• Coordinates and conducts various regulatory and best practice safety functions such as inspections, checklists, audits, and reports. Collects and maintains appropriate documentation in accordance with our policy and industry best practices.
• Evaluates the organization's procedures, facilities, and equipment by conducting inspections or audits to identify unsafe conditions, implement safeguards and solutions or additional precautions to ensure compliance to established regulations.
• Oversees company-wide use of electronic EHS management system. Outlines and implements training programs to educate and inform workforce on work safety, environmental safety, and accident prevention regulations and procedures.
• Ensures the organization complies with all current safety regulations and that all employees are aware of safety requirements and are prepared to follow safety procedures.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or related degree.
• 2+ years related experience.
• Knowledge of OSHA standards (lockout/tagout, confined space, hazard communication, personal protective equipment, respiratory protection, emergency response, recordkeeping).

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of NFPA, EPA and DOT.
• Experience with ISO14001, ISO9001, and cGMP.
