PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The responsibility of the Convention Sales Manager is to manage the operations of the Convention Sales Department and to ensure a positive, forward thinking and safe environment. This position promotes, directs, and leads the company's core service standards and brand attributes while also supporting the company's sustainability initiatives and platform. All duties are to be performed in accordance with department and property policies, practices, and procedures.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Solicit and procure corporate, association and incentive accounts in accordance with established marketing profiles and departmental policies and procedures.
- Execute pre-qualifications and rate negotiations; establish files, issue contracts, process bookings and appropriate follow-up correspondence with clients.
- Maintain frequent contact with established and prospective clients.
- Represent the company at trade shows presentations, sales trips, etc.
- Ability to create and give client presentations.
- Assist in creating programs to improve room sales and to target soft and off-peak periods.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested by the Associate Director of Sales, Executive Director of Sales and Vice President of Sales.
- Host prospective clients on-site inspections to include customer entertainment such as dining and shows.
- Create a work environment that promotes teamwork, performance feedback, recognition, mutual respect and employee satisfaction.
- Manage the delivery and measurement of guest service within assigned department(s) consistent with the company's core service standards and brand attributes.
- Perform all other job related duties as requested.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree
- At least 1 year of work experience in Hotel/Convention sales.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to lead and mentor a team.
- Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.
PREFERRED:
- Bachelor's degree in hospitality
