The Business Development Manager (BDM) will primarily be responsible for orchestrating the sales process from lead identification, new business prospecting, maintaining and growing existing client accounts, and ensuring sales strategies meet revenue objectives. He/she will build and forge strong relationships throughout their respective geographic responsibility and represent Philips/BioTelemetry professionally in all client and prospect interactions.

We are seeking candidates in Southern California who have the ability to consistently travel 25-50%. This will be a homebased position with travel.

You are responsible for
  • Driving sales bookings and overall market share inside the territory
  • Prospecting for new customers for our clinical trials services business
  • Developing relationships with defined customer base to extend new business opportunities within those accounts
  • Communicating the company's competitive differentiation and value proposition to enhance sales
  • Developing potential sales leads by conducting research, maintaining key industry contacts, and attending trade shows and meetings
  • Providing weekly and / or monthly sales reports as directed in accordance with company standards and in a timely and consistent manner
  • Maintaining compliance in staying within company budget guidelines with business expenses

Philips Pharma Solutions, Formerly Philips BioTel Research, is the clinical trials services business within the Philips Connected Care business cluster. The combination of Philips and BioTel provides over 20 years' experience serving the biopharmaceutical research market with over 125 years of market leading medical innovation. Together, we aim to build a leadership position in serving the expanding needs of the biopharmaceutical industry.

To succeed in this role, you'll need a customer-first attitude and the following
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Liberal Arts, Marketing, or a health related field;
  • Five (5) or more years' sales experience reflecting a track record of proven success within the core lab, CRO, or clinical trials technology arena; CRO or corelab experience highly preferred
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills
  • Technical aptitude with Microsoft programs, Salesforce, and general metrics reporting
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain productive, cooperative, and interdependent working and business relationships
  • Exemplary presentation skills with the ability to present in front of large and small groups of people
  • Demonstrated track record of consistently meeting or exceeding an annual sales quota of more than $5M
  • Advanced selling capability that showcases commitment to sales and company strategy, customer satisfaction, negotiation, and ability to close.
  • Strong prospecting skills and a desire to hunt as well as close
  • Significant experience in negotiating and closing new business and / or budgeting
