Sales Consultant
Job Description
Spectrum Technologies develops and markets affordable plant measurement solutions to the agricultural, turf and horticultural markets throughout the world. Founded in 1987, Spectrum Technologies is headquartered in Aurora, IL. The company’s technology is focused on four primary product groups. Spectrum has received 24 prestigious AE50 awards from the American Society of Agricultural Engineers for innovations in product and system design. The Sales Consultant will report to the Director of Domestic Sales and Marketing and will be responsible for developing and growing Spectrum’s business in an assigned business segment, achieving sales targets and serving as the industry expert in an assigned business segment. The individual will also be responsible for the introduction and increased adoption of key products to this market. The clients are focused on the following sub-markets: Fruit Crops, Vegetable Crops, Greenhouse and Nursery and Nut Crops.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Place outbound calls to current and prospective customers
- Achieve key sales metrics
- Visit key accounts to build relationships and demonstrate product solutions
- Track customer activities and follow-up actions within the CRM system
- Develop account strategies in accordance with overall channel strategy
- Single point of contact for all aspects of business with accounts
- Develop account goals and business plans with customers
- Forecast, budget and track account revenues and cost
- Ensure new products are introduced across the accounts
- Communicate through a weekly report the status of accounts, sales and projects
- Understand and respond to trends, markets and products
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Bachelor's Degree; agriculture, horticulture or business related field is a plus
- Successful, results driven sales experience; will consider entry level candidates
- Demonstrated skills in achieving sales, profitability and budget goals
- Thorough understanding of a consultative sales cycle
- Experience working with Universities/Colleges and or Government Agencies is a plus
- Ability to effectively implement sales and marketing strategies
- Ability to effectively monitor category performance versus plan and communicate accordingly
- Ability to interface and demonstrate leadership both internally and externally
- High-energy self starter as well collaborative team player
- Demonstrated commitment to building strong business relationships with customers
- Effective, strong presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written
- High level of accountability
- Candidate should possess strong analytical skills, critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills
- Computer literacy and proficiency in Word, Excel and Powerpoint
- Ability to travel up to 30%
