POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sales Development Manager - Service (SDMS) is a customer facing role driving service growth. The SDMS works directly with sales leadership, front line sellers and customers to secure new service business and grow existing service contracts. The successful candidate will assist with large service renewals, support large service opportunities and be an expert on Hach service programs. They will put together service proposals and serve as a liaison between the sales and service organization. Market includes Municipal or Industrial customers in the assigned region within North America. As new service offerings are developed SDMS will support the commercialization process, engaging directly with customers to drive adoption of these new solutions. This role plays a key role in seller training events and sharing knowledge across the community of front-line sellers and sales leadership.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works closely with customers to solve complex service problems delivering efficiencies, optimization and cost savings that address the customer's primary business/operational needs
  • Prospect for new service opportunities using installed base data and following up on service leads
  • Assist sellers with service business planning including but not limited to new business development of existing Hach service solutions and large renewals
  • Drive service strategy across the sales organization and forecasting service revenue
  • Play a lead role in commercialization efforts collecting VOC and driving early adoption of Hach's new service offerings by end-user customers.
  • Identify and report on service growth opportunity drivers and at-risk issues
  • Conducts analysis of orders and sales trends and provides reports as needed on service funnel health.
  • Raise awareness of upcoming service renewals for forecasting purposes
  • Forecast service revenue
  • Liaison and support with the Inside Sales Service team

CRITICAL COMPETENCIES / CORE BEHAVIORS:

  • Experienced in customer facing / problem solving environments
  • Ability to connect service solutions to commercial / customer problems resulting in economic value
  • Familiarity with service needs of municipal or industrial customers
  • Generates growth opportunities based on a deep understanding of customers and end user needs.
  • Manage service opportunities in sales funnel.
  • Able to operate independently, quickly assessing new situations, prioritizing the critical few tasks and developing strategies to meet KPIs.
  • Commercial acumen and communication skills required to navigate complex / solutions selling situations
  • Develop professional service proposals

    QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BA, BS or MS degree required. A degree in a commercial or science related field such as Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Engineering or equivalent is preferred.
  • 5 years of technical applications experience in service selling environment.
  • Direct customer commercial/sales experience is required.
  • Must have good computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Salesforce)
  • Demonstrates exemplary written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical customers. Requires proven ability to speak before large groups.
  • Must exhibit the willingness and ability to assimilate technical information quickly.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver license and a driving record which is acceptable Hach Company.
