Summary of Position
The Sales Engineer engages with key target clients that are seeking to elevate their operational processes through automation solutions. The Sales Engineer will streamline current methods and help implement cutting-edge automation systems, including understanding the elements required for design, building of work cells, and other supply chain automation processes.
The Sales Engineer works closely with an account executive who will identify opportunities that will require your technical expertise to solution. You will also engage directly with existing customers to understand their problem statements and report information across departments to create a solution offering that will be proposed back to your customer. Your goal is to ensure our clients are not just satisfied but are advocates for the transformative power of automation solutions.
Essential Functions
- Provide support to Acccount Executive existing opportunities and develop solutions to solve customer problems
- Consult with clients to identify automation opportunities that enhance their supply chain automation strategy primarily focused in E-Commerce as well as Transportation and Logistics industries
- Cross departmental collaboration to facilitate the design and building of advanced automation work cells tailored to client needs
- Foster lasting client relationships that are built on trust, success, and mutual respect
- Meet and exceed customer sales targets
- Opportunity management leveraging a CRM tool
- Solution Engineering
- Works with customers and automation architects on pre and post- sales engineering designs
- Must have knowledge of solution design, technical and functional specifications of advanced automation
- Develops solution BOMs and implementation plans for automated solutions
- Assists sales staff in assessing potential application of advanced automated systems and solutions to satisfy customer needs
- Tests and demonstrates prototypes of advanced automated systems for customers

- Solves complex problems which may require unique solutions (e.g., unique applications of existing technologies) that are used across the business in similar situations
- Facilitates and assists in problem resolution, identifies appropriate resources, develops contingency plans

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee in this position frequently communicates with other co-workers/clients who have inquiries about the various projects and other needs. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. The employee must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time. The employee in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Constantly operate a computer and office machinery such as a calculator, keyboard, copy machine, and printer. Frequently moves boxes with equipment weighing up to 25lbs across the building and/or to other offsite buildings for various project needs.
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of expirence
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, marketing, business administration or related field
- Experience in sales and the technology field
- Willingness to continue your sales and engineering education
- Uses advanced domain/solutions knowledge to competitive advantage
- Ability to relate technical information to nontechnical customers
- Develops and adapts sales strategies to unique customer needs
- Excellent leadership and teamwork skills
- Provides input to policies and practices
- Outstanding verbal, written communication and presentation skills
- Certified Sales Engeineer (CSE) certification throught the North American Association of Sales Engineering (NAASE) a plus
