How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Sales Manager - Marine Americas, you will motivate and lead the sales team members to meet or exceed the sales targets for the Americas Marine territory.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

  • Follow safe work practices and procedures, and ensure a "safety first" culture in every task undertaken.
  • Motivate and lead outside sales team (Regional Sales Managers, Business Development Managers, Sales Executives and Account Managers) to seek out new markets, grow existing business and manage current account customers.
  • Support, direct and motivate sales team members to achieve individual territory goals across the product groups.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to grow existing channels to market, and identify new ones.
  • Build long-term relationships with high level / large accounts including US and Canadian Federal agencies with focus on long term strategic initiatives and results
  • Identify and build partnerships with industry peers and industrial bodies to further Sealite's brand recognition and revenue opportunities of core and complementary products.
  • Seed, identify and participate in regular tenders for Sealite and Avlite products, through preparation to contract award.
  • Work with internal and external engineering teams where required to support project management, new product improvement and developments.
  • Work with the finance department to manage territory and product revenue reporting.
  • Support and maintain the universal adoption and on-going usage of global sales tools and processes.
  • Actively motivate the sales team with regular meetings, reporting and communication.
  • Manage staff incentive plans to optimise business performance.
  • Attend Industry forums and events where necessary.
  • Deliver staff and customer training.
  • Interface with other offices to train and develop skills.
  • Assist business in maintaining or exceeding company margin targets.
  • Create and manage the execution of new product introduction strategies to achieve company goals.
  • Assist in hosting inbound customer visits.
  • Regular domestic and international travel to service customers, attend trade shows and conferences.
  • Build internal relationships within the wider business.
  • Perform any other duties as reasonably directed.

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience

  • University or college degree, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification or experience in industry sector - Marine, Aviation, Heliport or Obstruction Lighting.
  • Experienced sales professional with a history of new business development and strong sales management experience.
  • Proven experience with Government contracts
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as in a team
  • Client focussed, energetic and pro-active
  • Demonstrated Negotiation skills
  • Attention to detail, follow up and administration skills
  • Planning, organising and time management skills
  • Customer service orientation/ relationship building skills
  • Excellent communication skills - listening/ verbal/written
  • Presentation skills
  • Report writing skills
  • Technical ability to run Master Classes (Product Training) for Agents, Distributors, Customers and End Users
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills - Excel and PowerPoint essential
  • Ability to travel routinely throughout territory
