What You Will Contribute:

The Sales Support Specialist (Inside Sales) will support customers and internal stakeholders by providing any or a combination of the following services: researching and responding to customer inquiries either in person, by telephone, e-mail, fax, or other correspondence.

Open to Sacramento, CA or Milwaukee, WI.

This is a non-exempt role, and the pay range for this role is $23-26 per hour.

Job Duties:

Sales Responsibilities

  • Provide pricing on products over the phone, negotiate pricing with customers within account manager's threshold.
  • Discuss and educate customers on BEACON (Cellular, fixed, mobile solutions, etc.) with prospective and new customers. Move them to quoting stage prior to involving account manager.
  • Understand functionality and selling points of ALL products offered.
  • Keep record of annual blanket POs, follow up with customers and help them utilize entire budgets for their fiscal year.
  • Monitor expiring quotes and work with account managers to ensure adequate price increases within account threshold.
  • Achieve and maintain a deep technical understanding of the product line, its capabilities, and its applicability into different customer applications.

Distribution Sales Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of distribution operations, utilizing branch inventory to quickly deliver product to customers.
  • Work with branch manager to help maintain accurate minimum balance levels for inventory in distribution warehouses.
  • Communicates with branch managers when customer's specifications change or projects end so we do not have excess inventory in warehouses for these changes.
  • Work with other distribution branches to sell returned product within their territory when specifications allow.
  • Navigate on hand inventory report to sell inventory that can often get "lost" in the system if not managed and monitored properly.
  • Make decisions quickly to resolve issues that arise with both our customer and Badger Meter's best interest in mind.
  • Understand warehouse process and help pack and ship orders for end of month/quarter if needed.
  • Provide feedback to branch manager on issues and opportunities to reduce redundancy and improve accuracy internally and externally.

Customer Inquiries & Account Maintenance

  • Cradle to grave approach in taking ownership of all customer inquiries.
  • Main point of contact for customers, account managers & field support specialists.
  • Take incoming calls from customers on issues within the accounts and provide quick solutions.
  • Maintain knowledge of account specification within territory and customer base.
  • Provide customer service with account specification within the territory to help expedite quotes/orders for customers accurately.
  • Review and assist in updating bids to ensure correct account maintenance is listed in Salesforce.
  • Work with account managers, regional managers & PMO team on special projects and strategic accounts.
  • Review bids, quotes and orders to ensure accurate processing to minimize errors.
  • Process orders, quotes, etc. as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High School Degree required, Bachelor Degree in Business, Communication or Psychology preferred
  • 3+ years of related experience (client services, retail, or like)
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Software
  • Salesforce (CRM) experience preferred
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency about getting work completed on time and accurately
  • Takes ownership of inquiries from start to finish
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Drives to provide best in class customer service to both internal and external customers
  • Direct or indirect sales experience preferred
  • Manufacturing or distribution knowledge and experience preferred
