This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a SAM Specialist in India.
This role focuses on managing enterprise Software Asset Management (SAM) processes to ensure software compliance, cost optimization, and governance across complex IT environments. You will work with leading SAM tools and engage with major software publishers to maintain accurate licensing positions and reduce compliance risks. The position plays a critical role in supporting audits, interpreting licensing agreements, and ensuring organizations stay aligned with contractual and regulatory obligations. You will collaborate closely with procurement, IT, finance, and vendor teams to optimize software usage and entitlements. This is a detail-oriented and analytical role requiring strong technical understanding of licensing models and enterprise software ecosystems. You will also contribute to reporting, dashboards, and continuous improvement of IT asset management practices.
Accountabilities:
- Manage and support end-to-end Software Asset Management processes using tools such as ServiceNow SAM and Flexera.
- Perform software license compliance analysis, identify risks, and support remediation and optimization activities.
- Work with major software publishers including Microsoft, Adobe, Autodesk, and Red Hat to ensure accurate licensing alignment.
- Interpret complex license agreements, contracts, and entitlements to maintain accurate compliance positions.
- Support Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 activities including user support, compliance analysis, and escalation management.
- Assist in internal and external software audits, including true-up processes and audit defense activities.
- Collaborate with procurement, finance, IT, and vendor teams to optimize software usage and reduce costs.
- Maintain accurate software inventory records and develop compliance, usage, and cost optimization reports and dashboards.
- 3–6+ years of experience in Software Asset Management, IT Asset Management, or related IT governance roles.
- Hands-on experience with SAM tools such as ServiceNow SAM, Flexera, or equivalent platforms.
- Strong understanding of software licensing models for major publishers such as Microsoft, Adobe, Autodesk, and Red Hat.
- Experience in software compliance, license reconciliation, audit support, and optimization activities.
- Knowledge of ITIL, SAM, and ITAM best practices in enterprise environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex compliance scenarios independently.
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical teams.
- Familiarity with cloud and subscription-based licensing models is an advantage.
- Relevant certifications (ITIL, SAM, ITAM) are a plus.
