SAP Master Data Governance Consultant (SME)

Your Role and Responsibilities
Roles of a SAP Master Data Governance Consultant

1. Strategic Advisor:
   • Act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams to align SAP MDG solutions with organizational goals.
   • Provide insights on best practices for data governance and master data management (MDM).
2. Solution Designer:
   • Design scalable and efficient SAP MDG solutions tailored to the client’s master data needs.
   • Develop strategies for integrating SAP MDG with other systems (e.g. SAP S/4HANA ECC CRM BW non-SAP systems).
3. Governance Advocate:
   • Drive the adoption of data governance principles across the organization.
   • Define processes standards and policies for master data management.

Responsibilities of a SAP Master Data Governance Consultant

1. Requirements Gathering and Analysis:
   • Work with stakeholders to understand master data requirements pain points and integration needs.
   • Conduct workshops to capture functional and technical requirements.
2. Solution Design and Architecture:
   • Design data models (e.g. data domains for customer vendor material etc.) and implement governance frameworks.
   • Define workflows validations and derivations in SAP MDG.
   • Architect data replication mechanisms between SAP MDG and other systems.
3. Implementation Oversight:
   • Lead the technical implementation of SAP MDG solutions ensuring alignment with the architectural vision.
   • Oversee configuration and customization activities.
4. Integration and Migration:
   • Plan and execute data migration strategies for master data harmonization.
   • Ensure seamless integration of SAP MDG with other enterprise systems.
5. Data Quality Management:
   • Implement tools and methodologies for maintaining high data quality standards.
   • Define KPIs and dashboards for monitoring data quality.
6. Collaboration and Communication:
   • Collaborate with business process owners data stewards and IT teams to drive the SAP MDG agenda.
   • Prepare and deliver presentations for leadership on project progress and outcomes.
7. Testing and Validation:
   • Oversee the creation of test cases for SAP MDG workflows validations and integrations.
   • Validate solutions against business requirements and ensure high-quality delivery.
8. Training and Support:
   • Train end-users data stewards and IT teams on SAP MDG functionality and governance processes.
   • Provide post-implementation support and address system issues or enhancement requests.
9. Continuous Improvement:
   • Keep abreast of new SAP MDG features updates and best practices.
   • Recommend enhancements to improve system performance and governance effectiveness.
10. Project Leadership:
    • Manage the SAP MDG project lifecycle including scoping planning execution and delivery.
    • Ensure project timelines budgets and deliverables are met.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Deep knowledge of SAP MDG (data models UI configurations workflows and integration).
• Strong understanding of SAP ecosystems like S/4HANA ECC and SAP PI/PO/CPI for integrations.
• Expertise in data governance frameworks policies and standards.
• Familiarity with industry regulations (e.g. GDPR SOX) affecting master data.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience in data migration and quality tools (e.g. SAP Data Services Information Steward).
• Hands-on experience Identifying assessing and solving complex business problems for area of responsibility where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
• Experience collaborating data with owners and users/analysts across the customer operations to modify or implement new repeatable and reliable businesses processes to improve and sustain effective data governance resulting in improved quality and consistency of data used to drive key business decisions.
• Experience working closely with Data Architects to ensure changes are appropriately synchronized with the metadata strategy and logical data model.
• Experience leading technical aspects of the delivery of SAP Business Intelligence (BI) solutions & related components working across business/technology teams to ensure alignment between business solution definition & systems architecture for the organization.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Experience working with SAP FI/CO MM SD or PM and Master Data required.
• At least 3 years of experience in Master data management with expertise in implementing SAP Master Data Governance (MDG).
• Experience in complex SAP environments supporting multiple components.
