SAP MD Functional Senior Engineer

Job Summary:
The purpose of the role of SAP Functional Consultant consists of two main areas of responsibility, project delivery and service delivery. Each individual at this level can be responsible for activities within project delivery, service delivery or a combination of both areas.
This is a role which involves working largely on their own initiative or as part of a SAP design/service team.
Project delivery responsibilities
The SAP Functional Consultant Design will lead and support the Design Governance within their own SAP CoE Solution Area, recommending and approving designs to take forward to implementation and producing High Level designs for new systems and changes of any size and complexity. They will be looked to as the "expert" within their Functional Area to understand, evaluate and articulate recommendations for solutions that provide the best outcome for customers. They will also be expected to configure SAP modules in line with design requirements as well as peer review designs / configuration from other Functional Consultants in the SAP area.
Service delivery responsibilities involve helping to sustain and optimize SAP Applications by ensuring they are managed effectively. They are the single point of contact for a specific set of SAP applications/components, providing application specific expertise.
Job Responsibilities:

• Creates, develops and maintains internal business requirements for complex issues by means of interviews, workflow analyses and facilitated discussions with users.
• Translates users' complex business requirements into detailed functional designs for development, testing and implementation.
• Develops, configures, integrates functional changes for complex SAP Components including, but not limited to SAP S/4, SAP MDG, STIBO, AIF Monitoring etc.
• Performs complex functional reviews, writes functional specifications, project planning and developments in SAP ABAP, integration and BTP areas
• Develops and implements SAP standards within designs and challenge where SAP standard is not proposed.
• Develops complex test cases for unit, regression, performance and user acceptance testing for SAP components, but not limited to SAP S/4, SAP Fiori, SAP SLT, SAP BW, SAP PI/PO, SAP BODS etc
• Stays abreast of industry leading best practices and brings them to the attention of the leadership team for innovative application. Develop strong partnerships (and relationships) with internal and external stakeholders to meet business needs.
• Expert in SAP Solution Manager, such as ChaRM and Monitoring (technical and E2E)
• Sharpens the saw: Displays expertise in knowledge bases and certifications such as but not limited to SAP Certified Development Specialist ABAP for SAP HANA 2.0, ABAP with SAP NetWeaver 7.50, Learning Hub etc.
• Experience delivering complex projects across an IT landscape
• Develops and owns project plans of moderate scope while ensuring timely delivery of deliverables to meet project/program milestones.
• Performs integration of SAP SaaS solutions with the existing SAP solutions.
• Identifies and communicates risks and issues impacting business rules, functional requirements and specifications.
• Participates in and contributes to managing the scope of applications and related changes.
• Mentors and trains less experienced team members
• Collaborates with stakeholders on the evaluation of the feasibility, effort and costs to implement requirements.
• Interacts with internal and external peers and managers to exchange complex information related to areas of specialization. Serves as a liaison between engineering, quality assurance and non technical stakeholders throughout the development and deployment process.
• Anticipates, prevents and eliminates problems and roadblocks before they occur.
• Performs as subject matter Expert to less experienced team members. May participate in teaching and training members of work team.
• This role is assigned to important / complicated undertakings is operates with little need for guidance.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 4 years of experience in SAP Engineering, Software Engineering or similar field
• At least 2 years of experience with technical design process and models. Experience in Engineering, Software Engineering or similar field
• At least 2 years of experience with requirements specification and development, such as process/functional requirements definition methods, JAD/RAD sessions, use case development, process flow diagrams..
• Experience writing code for moderately complex applications
• At least 3 years of expertise in SAP IS Retail or functional experience in Retail operations and processes with focus on SAP MDG (DFR/BRF), SAP Master Data (Material/Article/Vendor Master, Business Partner, Purchase Info Records and Source Lists), BODS. SAP ERP and SAP S/4HANA. Ensures master data integrity in key systems as well as maintaining the processes to support the data quality.
• Experience with SAP Enterprise Structure. Good knowledge of Data Exchange such as EDI, ALE, IDOCS and Interfaces between SAP and non SAP systems. Good skills in data administration, design, and architecture.
• Expert in integrating SAP SaaS solutions with the existing SAP solutions.
• Experience with at least 4 Greenfield / Brownfield SAP full implementations
• Experience designing/building complex SAP applications/automation or deployment automation.
• Expert in automation test or deployment scripts
• Functional expertise in cloud based SAP S4, CAR, BW implementations and coding/scripting solutions to address moderately complex problems
• Expertise in operational topics before they become issues and recommending and implementing strategies mitigating them. When issues do occur, triage issues to identify the correct problem fast and mitigate them from occuring again.
• At least 1 year of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross functional team leadership.
• Willing to travel up to/at least 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

• Experience assessing business proposals, project scoping, feasibility analysis and cost estimation.
