This exciting and highly visible position reporting into our CIO will drive planning, management and execution of multiple, complex strategic projects through portfolio management, program management, and project governance. A key aspect of the position will drive the realization and measure the associated benefits that ERP SAP transformation projects bring to the entire organization. This position maintains overall responsibility for reviewing, planning, organizing and directing all enterprise resource planning (ERP SAP) program / project initiatives. It will drive consistent and common processes and program management practices across the enterprise surrounding business systems alignment and integration, resulting in predictable, measurable services. This individual acts as a trusted advisor and enabler, collaborating with senior leaders both internal and external to IT to ensure personnel and services are prepared to deliver key programs across the enterprise.
Responsible for successful delivery of projects ensuring 100% reference ability and client satisfaction. Deep project management experience and expertise and consistently acts as a Project Manager for multiple smaller scale projects concurrently or a larger, complex program.
Essential Functions:
- This position reports to the Senior Vice President and CIO with a matrix reporting relationship to the Vice President of Service Delivery Effectiveness
- Ability to travel up to 50% both domestic and international, overnight travel required
- Supervises all related project and program work with minimal direction
- Responsible for identifying and resolving issues before they become a problem. Including effectively assessing and managing project risk. Escalates project issues to the CIO and Service Delivery Effectiveness Lead and brings in appropriate support when needed to ensure the project/program is successful
- Ensures project deliverables are high quality and are archived and available for knowledge sharing
- Works with HR to determine appropriate project staffing for own projects and working to provide flexible solutions for all projects ensuring the success as a whole. This includes creatively utilizing resources who are not perfect fit by developing roles and tasks that enhance their growth and value to the organization and creatively managing needs of own projects when staffing needs overlap with the needs of other projects
- Responsible for ensuring project is following Valmont implementation methodology
- Provides consistent, open and prompt communication to project teams in support of the organization's message to provide consistent and positive input and support to the project teams
- Ensures all project forecasts and administration is accurate, timely, complete, and follows the organization's internal processes, procedures and methodologies:
Project set-up including staffing plans, project member goals and objectives, and project end evaluations
Project status reports including weekly projections and forecast numbers, staffing updates, and team T&E reporting, this includes consistent participation in all management update conference calls and meetings
Project wrap-up including all project plan documentation, QA assessments, customer satisfaction documentation, reference documentation, project deliverables, and project end appraisals - Takes responsibility for ultimate project success
- Leads project teams through planning, implementation and execution of the ERP SAP program
- Participates in strategic planning with the Program Leadership and Service Effectiveness teams helping set the direction for program execution
- Facilitates steering committee meetings, creates executive leadership program summaries, provides program status reporting, and facilitates scope management and change control processes
- Drives the ERP SAP implementation process, software development process, including requirement gathering, analysis/design, development tools/technologies, release/version control, contemporary testing methodologies and deployment management
- Escalates and manages program risks with leadership as appropriate to drive continuous improvement and develop contingency plans with appropriate subject matter experts
- Drives change in a positive, collaborative, and transparent manner
- Manages and optimizes interdependencies between work streams and other strategic programs and coordinates communications across teams
- Regularly conceptualizes, documents and presents creative solutions to senior management
- Facilitates negotiations between business and IT stakeholders and sponsors around scope and priority
- Strong knowledge and understanding of business needs (with one area of domain expertise), with the ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence
- Strong customer focus and ability to manage expectations
- Allocates appropriate resources to ensure that complex programs are supported and completed within committed time, scope, and budget
- Initiates and implements new technologies, methodologies, process and procedures that will support company long and short-term goals
- Contributes to continuous improvement on processes, tools and metrics, proactively initiating changes when needed to ensure effectiveness
- Coaches and empowers the team to initiate and present the right questions to gain insight into business issues and needed resolutions
Other Important Details about the Role:
The incumbent is the team leader and liaison responsible for advising leadership and/or business executives at the highest levels about the assigned project portfolio, status and resource planning regarding the delivery for strategic business initiatives. This individual must possess a strong program management and agile and waterfall background with demonstrated experience leading large complex integration projects leveraging a well-rounded technical and functional background in ERP SAP technologies
The person executing this role must be able to thrive in a rapidly evolving, matrixed environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. Success will require the ability to develop and drive at a high, strategic level and dive into with a teamwork mentality to meet deliverables in a highly visible and impactful realm of accountability.
Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
- Preferred Bachelor's with 7+ years relevant experience or Associate's Degree with 9+ years of relevant experience or 11+ years of relevant experience
- 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in a project /program-based environment
- 7+ years project management experiences through active participation in system-related projects which may include ERP or other business systems
- Demonstrated experience working on ERP SAP implementations
- Experience creating RFP's, vendor selection, and acting as a Program Manager on ERP and digital transformation
- Advanced level analytical and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to identify problems and systematically gather data, identify root causes and solutions
- Familiar with program management, large (enterprise) lean manufacturing and IT applications
- Ability to work in a highly matrixed environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to present complex information to a variety of audiences
- Must have leadership skills with the ability to influence, build relationships and manage high priority items and adjust to shifting priorities while meeting deadlines
- Must have the ability to see, account for, and coach others in the "big picture" as well as the details and to be able to tie initiatives to corporate goals
- Excellent understanding of computer technology as it is applied to business processes
- High level of initiative and self-motivation
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Solid program management skills with ability to multitask and manage multiple small to large projects in a cross-functional environment
- Blends creative, problem-solving, and technical skills to refine existing theories or develop new system approaches to seize opportunities and sustain business success

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or similar field of study
- Project Management Certification (PMP)/ PgMP and/or other relevant certifications
- Master's degree
- Knowledge of Agile and Waterfall system development methodologies
- Experience in SAP 4/Hana
- Experience in managing large-scale ERP programs in a manufacturing organization including engineering, supply chain, operations and finance processes
Working Environment and Physical Efforts:
Work is typically performed in an office setting; however, incumbent may be required to go into the production or shipping/receiving areas. The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings. The employee is expected to utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and position, keyboard location and height, and see that proper wrist rests are used. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. Occasional travel (up to 20%) may be required to sites within the U. S. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk when moving about the office.
