This is a critical initiative which is key to meeting our revenue targets. This position will be in our IT department responsible for the S/4 implementation of Variant Configuration (VC) including integration with integration with the Hybris E-Commerce (also referred to as SAP Commerce Cloud) and SAP Configure/Price/Quote (CPQ) projects. This is a "hands-on" position requiring a high degree of proficiency in VC.

Essential Functions:

• This position reports to the Vice President IT Enterprise Applications and has no direct or indirect reports
• This role requires periodic travel to Omaha, Nebraska if working remotely
• Flexible schedule with the ability to work in the office 1- 2 days per week if working in Omaha
• Designing and maintaining SAP VC and classification hierarchies, object dependencies, variant tables, material masters, bills of material, routings, and variant conditions for pricing and purchasing
• Creating, modifying, and maintaining characteristics, classes, classification hierarchies, configurable materials, configuration profiles, bills of material, super routings, object dependencies (constraints, rules, selection conditions, procedures), variant tables, variant functions, variant pricing, material variants, material variant and sales order costing
• Hands on design experience for implementations of SAPs S/4 Advanced Variant Configuration
• Functional and integration testing of VC
• Partner with Valmont product development, engineering, marketing, sales, production, and procurement personnel, to ensure that all product and system configuration requirements are addressed
• Assist in the development and validation of documentation and training materials as required for new product and system models being released
• Understanding of ALE and mechanisms to transport VC models from environment to environment (Sandbox, Dev, QA, and Prod)
• Excellent understanding of SAP Engineering Change Management (ECM) pertaining to VC objects, Bill of Materials, and other relevant SAP master data
• Through understanding of SAP SD order process including pricing (condition technique)
• Estimation and planning skills; developing the effort needed to create and deploy VC models for the implementation
• Work closely with business constituents to understand required functionality and advise them on the best practice and solution design
• Work with the technical team so they understand the requirements and what custom code is required for the development team
• Work with the project manager (if assigned) to ensure that project schedules and budget are met
• Create technical specifications
• Fix and review defects
• Perform QA and evaluation of delivered functionality
• Understand and guide the business and team on developing the correct VC solution, minimizing custom code
• Supervise consulting VC modelers
• Lead prioritization and delivery of enhancements
• Guide problem resolution
• Partner closely with business users and sponsors to understand and document the requirements

Other Important Details about the Role:

The Senior IT Variant Configuration Analyst (SAP) is an individual contributor role dedicated to the analysis, design, development, and implementation of SAP VC throughout several different business units at Valmont. Several of the Valmont business units have configurable products and involve engineer to order processes. This role will require leading consulting partner VC modelers and working with the SPA S/4 implementation team and project. In addition, since Valmont is also implementing Commerce Cloud) and SAP Configure/Price/Quote (CPQ) project, this position will require understanding how VC will operate in those environments, including defining an gaps. The incumbent should demonstrate a logical approach to project analysis and estimation including work breakdown structure, scope control, critical path method, and project metrics.

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

• Preferred Bachelor's with 6+ years of relevant experience or Associate's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience or 10+ years of relevant experience
• Six years' experience designing and maintaining SAP VC models, classification hierarchies, object dependencies, variant tables, material masters, bills of material, routings, and variant conditions for pricing and purchasing
• Six years' experience creating, modifying, and maintaining characteristics, classes, classification hierarchies, configurable materials, configuration profiles, bills of material, super routings, object dependencies (constraints, rules, selection conditions, procedures), variant tables, variant functions, variant pricing, material variants, material variant and sales order costing
• Two years working in an Engineer to Order environment
• Self-starter who demonstrates creativity in solving problems or generating improvement ideas and the ability to work with offshore consulting partners
• Knowledge of project methodologies like Agile, Scrum, Waterfall

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or MIS
• Master's degree in MIS
• Two years of experience deploying SAP VC in SAP CPQ or SAP E-commerce
• Ability to create ABAP P functions
• Hands on implementation of Advanced Variant Configuration

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

Work is typically performed in an office setting. The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. Minimal travel requirements for this position. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer. The employee is occasionally required to move about the office. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
