This position is located in Metairie, LA, 70002.

This position can be located in the Greater New Orleans area or Baton Rouge.

The Small Business Administration (SBA) Business Development Director is responsible for engaging in SBA business development efforts to identify new business prospects. The Director will also conduct pre-closing risk assessments through post-closing audits to ensure governance and compliance with SBA and internal bank policies and procedures.

Job Requirements:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related business field. Four years of related experience can be substituted for the degree.
  • Three years' experience with SBA programs such as 504 and 7a.
  • Three years' experience in business development.
  • Demonstrated sales skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of business financing.
  • Excellent analytical and financial analysis skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and present recommendations.
  • Proven track record of program management.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Preferred:

  • Three years' experience in operations, loan servicing, special assets, small business banking and/or commercial lending.
  • Experience in SBA audits, loan workouts and liquidations

Specific Job Functions:

  • Engage in Small Business Administration (SBA) business development efforts to identify new business prospects.
  • Develop relationships with state officials and alliance groups to understand the broader needs of the small business community in our region.
  • Assume overall responsibility for SBA and other government-guaranteed lending and servicing activities corporate-wide.
  • Collaborate on and assume responsibility, when necessary, on SBA-related training, policy writing, monitoring, planning, and budgeting.
  • Assist Relationship Managers and when necessary, directly evaluate the needs of present and potential customers seeking primarily SBA loans, deposit accounts and other bank products.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with SBA Related Centers of Influence within the market.
  • Conduct pre-closing risk assessments through post-closing audits to ensure governance and compliance with SBA and internal bank policies and procedures.
  • Assist with loan workouts and liquidations in accordance with SBA and internal bank policies and procedures.
  • Assist Loan Operations with SBA Post-Closing requirements.
  • Engage with clients to maintain relationships and ensure their ongoing needs are addressed.
  • Regularly monitor and review the current SBA loan portfolio to identify issues, resolve past due payments, loan file issues or gather missing/incorrect documentation.
  • Work closely with the Bank's Relationship Managers to help package and service qualifying SBA loans.
  • Refer opportunities for non-government guaranteed loans, deposits, and other related services to respective area within the Bank.
  • Provide coaching and training to the Relationship Managers on SBA and other government-guaranteed lending products.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of SBA products, rules, and regulations.
  • Complies with regulatory rules and regulations, evidenced through successful completion of training and demonstrated ability.
  • Performs other duties as appointed by management.
