Science Script Writer (Part Time, Temporary)

BrainPOP's Editorial team is seeking a part-time, temporary Science Script Writer to join our team for up to 15 hours per week from approximately August - October 2023.
In this role, you will:
- Research the science and educational standards on a scientific topic
- Pitch a concept for a short animated movie on the topic
- Write a script based on the approved pitch
- Work with editors to develop the concept and script
- Create robust transcripts for new and existing movies on BrainPOP
You Are
- An articulate communicator with strong writing skills
- A science enthusiast who enjoys explaining scientific concepts to non-experts
- A team player with the time management and organizational skills to also work independently
- Have an understanding of Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)
On Your Resume
- College/University level coursework in a scientific field or demonstrated knowledge in a scientific field; biological sciences preferred.
- Experience writing for lay audience and demonstrated ability to communicate scientific concepts to a non-scientific audience
- Experience in education preferred

The starting salary for this role is between $23 - $27 per hour, depending on skills and experience. We take a geo-neutral approach to compensation within the US, meaning that we pay based on job function and level, not location. For all other countries, we have competitive pay bands based on market standards. Individual compensation decisions are based on a number of factors, including experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company. We expect the majority of the candidates who are offered roles at our company to fall healthily throughout the range based on these factors. We recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced (or more senior) than this job description as posted. If that ends up being the case, the updated salary range will be communicated with you as a candidate.
