Job Description
Our client, a global leader in the Pharma and OTC space has an immediate need for a Scientist 1 to join their team. If you have a background in a Chemistry, Microbiology or Food Science, and looking to expand your career in the Dietary Supplement product development area we would love to speak with you! We need someone who can help deliver innovation in a fast-paced work environment. The ideal candidate will be willing to learn about dietary supplements, clinical research, competitive products, regulations, production, documentation.
Position Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support the Research & Development Team in product development research, documentation, formulation, and technical substantiations.
- Review the primary and secondary literature for safe and effective ingredients.
- Collaborate with internal partners in Packaging, Analytical, Micro, Procurement, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Medical Affairs, Medical Safety as well as working closely with Sales and Marketing to help identify solutions to consumer needs.
- Interface with manufacturers and vendors to create appealing formulas (manage organoleptic properties and aesthetics validation, when applicable) and ensure products are developed and manufactured in accordance with desired specifications, as well as formulation standards.

Preferred Qualifications
Functional and Technical Competencies:
- Experience in Quality (QA or QC) or R&D setting with dietary supplements, OTC and/or food manufacturing is preferred.
- Strong technical background in a Physical or Biological Science is preferred.
- Strong math skills and ability to work in Excel, as well as attention to detail is required.
- Knowledge of Food & Supplement regulations (including DSHEA, Code of Federal Regulation 21 CFR 111 and Good Manufacturing Practices) is preferred.
- Ability to objectively review scientific literature to help support ingredient or product efficacy and safety is required.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) is required.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks as well as the ability to collaborate in a team setting is required.
- Ability to follow process and learn to input and retrieve data using established software systems.
- Detail oriented with an eye for intense scrutiny for accuracy of formulation/documentation
- Minimum of a University/Bachelor's degree within a science related discipline.
- 1-3 years of experience in laboratory, research, and product development is preferred. (Job experience in conjunction with education is acceptable.)
