The Opportunity

You will work within a team environment and be responsible for daily instrument set-up and preparation, maintenance, training, trouble-shooting, and operation of the flow sorters, analyzers, and other instrumentations in the lab.

Sorting instruments include: 7 BD FACSAria Fusions, 2 BD FACSymphony S6s, a BD FACSDiscover S8, and a BD Influx. Analyzers include 2 BD Dual Symphonies, 3 BD Symphonies, 1 BD Dual Fortessa, 1 BD Fortessa, 2 BD Celestas, 5 Cytek Auroras. Other instruments include an Amnis ImageStream system, a Helios Mass Cytometer with Hyperion tissue Imager, 4 Hamilton robotic platforms, 6 FlexMaps.

You will also be responsible on a rotating basis to set up and analyze cytokine/chemokine assays using the Luminex bead system in the immune multiplexing segment of the lab for many researchers at Genentech who request this data. Hamilton robotic platforms are available to aid in set up of requested assays, as well as FlexMaps systems for acquisition of such assays.

Who You Are

• Bachelor's degree in biological sciences with skills in operating, managing, troubleshooting, and maintaining sorters, analyzers, and other systems

• Minimum of 4 years of hands on experience in flow cytometry and analyzer experience

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication skills and a teamwork spirit

• Experience with conventional and full spectrum flow analyzers (e.g., BD Celesta, Fortessa, Symphony, Cytek Aurora)

• Experience running multicolor (6+) flow panels and familiarity with FlowJo and cell sorters (e.g., BD AriaFusion, BD Symphony S6)

• Ability to train others on flow instruments and handle occasional heavy lifting up to 50 lbs

• Requires moderate amounts of walking/standing

Preferred

• Preference will be given to a qualified person who is able to work later hours

• Familiarity with troubleshooting flow instrumentation is a plus

• Cell sorting experience a plus

• 6 hands on experience in flow cytometry and analyzer experience preferred

• Master's degree in biological sciences preferred

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, California is $79,900 to $148,500. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
