Job Description

Role:

Hologic is seeking a Scientist to fill a key leadership role in its Core Services Support Team. This Scientist 3 level position is responsible for initiating, directing and executing scientific research and/or development strategies. This role will interact with all R&D teams including international teams as well as advise other departments, such as Operations and Technical Support.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Drive efforts to generate clones and in vitro transcripts for assay development activities. Experience with sequencing is a plus.
• Responsible for a significant portion of a complex project or an entire less complex project or multiple less complex projects. May represent R&D on a Core Team for a product development project and provide feedback on best practices for generating materials that may be used in the development or commercially post launch of a product
• Present work internally or at scientific conferences or write scientific papers. Collaborate and communicate effectively with junior level employees, peers and cross-functional teams across all levels of the organization.
• Perform research or product development experiments in molecular biology, including bacterial cloning, in vitro transcription and sequencing. These efforts will support the development and eventual commercialization of in vitro diagnostic products.
• Responsible for internal and external troubleshooting investigations which involve sequencing of production materials and/or clinical specimens.
• Will manage Research Associate or Scientist personnel on a daily basis.

Education:

• B.A. /B.S. Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field.
• M.S. Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field.
• Ph.D. Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field.

Experience:

• 7-9 years post-baccalaureate laboratory experience. Industrial experience preferred.
• 6-8 years laboratory experience post-M.S. without thesis. Industrial experience preferred.
• 5-7 years laboratory experience post M.S. with thesis. Industrial experience preferred.
• Ph.D. with no post-doctoral research experience or 4-6 years industrial experience.
• Ph.D. with post-doctoral research experience and 3-5 years industrial experience.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Teamwork, interpersonal and relationship building skills with team members, peers, and senior leaders.
• Demonstrated excellence in leadership; people management experience a plus.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
• Experience working in a molecular diagnostics company developing IVD products an advantage
