Job Summary

The Scientist in Metrology Group will develop unique bench top optical laser-based systems, set up and complete experiments on an optical table, including optical alignment and testing, collection and analysis of experimental data

Job Function

• Designs, develops, and tests all aspects of optical components, equipment and systems
• Designs and builds laser-based optical setups and imaging systems
• Develops measurement methodology, algorithms, codes and protocols
• Conducts research in optical material characterization
• Operates variety of optical, test and analytical instruments
• Designs automation for optical systems and control electronics
• Provides reports and training to internal personnel

Requirements

• PhD in Science or Engineering, preferably with Major in Physics or EE
• Experience with lasers, optical components, imaging systems
• Experience with optical metrology is a plus
• Knowledge of laser physics, optics, condensed matter physics and optical spectroscopy
• Hands-on experience with optical and electrical test equipment
• Working knowledge of computational tools, such as MatLab or Python
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
