Synthetic Molecule Design and Development has an exciting opportunity for an analytical chemist to join our development group. You will be part of a diverse team of analytical chemists, organic chemists, pharmaceutical scientists, and engineers delivering product and process understanding across a broad range of platforms (e.g. small molecule, peptides, and oligonucleotides). Synthetic Molecule Design and Development has an exciting opportunity for an analytical chemist to join our development group. You will be part of a diverse team of analytical chemists, organic chemists, pharmaceutical scientists, and engineers delivering product and process understanding across a broad range of platforms (e.g. small molecule, peptides, and oligonucleotides). Top candidates for this position will:
- Be able to independently acquire and interpret 1D and 2D NMR and LCMS data.
- Possess a strong foundation in organic chemistry and reaction mechanisms.
- Generate key data and information by applying HPLC, UHPLC, GC, and LCMS in collaboration with other analytical scientists as well as chemistry, engineering, and pharmaceutical scientists.
The ideal candidate will have breadth in multiple analytical techniques. Demonstrated strong technical problem-solving skills, learning agility, and ability to work with cross-functional teams are requirements.
Position Responsibilities:
- Engage with scientists across Eli Lilly's development and manufacturing organizations to assist in problem solving related to reaction characterization, impurity elucidation, control strategy, and general analytical problems related to process development.
- Identify and exploit novel scientific concepts, exhibit effective problem-solving skills, and be self-motivated to contribute across multiple projects.
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication to represent both technical and business-related implications of your work.
Basic Qualifications:
- BS or MS in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related field with 0-3 years of experience.
Additional Skills/Preferences:
- Experience with chromatographic separations, spectroscopic methods, and other techniques for the analysis of synthetic molecules.
- Demonstration of scientific and people leadership skills.
- Ability to work productively in an interdisciplinary team environment
- Ability to balance multiple activities, prioritize and handle ambiguity
