The role...

The mission of the Antibody Technologies team is to improve the process by which CST discovers antibodies. CST finds new antibodies, and the Antibody Technologies team finds new ways to find new antibodies. The successful team member will have a strong background in B cell biology with expertise in lymphocyte characterization, assay development, antibody discovery, cloning, and characterization. This individual will work in a highly collaborative environment to develop and implement innovative antibody discovery technologies, antibody characterization methods, and cell isolation methods.

You'll have the opportunity to...

• Drive the design, testing, and development of novel antibody discovery platforms to capture antigen-specific B cells and antibodies.
• Perform cloning, expression, and characterization of antibodies using common molecular biology techniques.
• Utilize single-cell technologies for the purpose of antibody discovery.
• Utilize conventional technologies like flow cytometry and FACS to sort and/or characterize novel B cell populations.
• Utilize cell and tissue culture as needed to maintain and expand both cell lines and primary cells.
• Independently import novel assays, kits, and experimental frameworks to support key research goals.
• Independently design and perform appropriately controlled experiments, then analyze, interpret, summarize, prepare, and present scientific data and results.
• Order, stock, and maintain inventory of lab reagents for their own use and assist in the same for a small team of 3-5 researchers.
• Maintain accurate and complete research laboratory documentation, including both hardcopy and electronic records, and up-to-date summaries of recent data.
• Indirectly supervise a small colony of research animals.
• Mentor research associates within the team.
• Actively drive exploratory activities from the bench.

Who you are and what you bring to the team...

• BS degree or MS degree in a Biological Science
• BS degree, minimum of 8+ years previous hands on experience with generation, antibody repertoire analysis, and library preparation for NGS sequencing or
• MS degree, minimum of 5+ years previous hands on experience with generation, antibody repertoire analysis, and library preparation for NGS sequencing
• Understanding of B cell biology (Human and Mouse) and single cell methods
• A minimum of 2 years experience in flow cytometry-based instruments (sorter, analyzer) and data analysis software

Ideally, you have...

• Ph.D. in Immunology (or closely related field i.e.microbiology, bacteriology, virology, etc.)
• Previous experience with high throughput screening and automation
• Familiarity with Octet or SPR based instrumentation
• Understanding of molecular biology techniques for cloning, sequencing antibodies, and engineering antibodies
• Previous experience mentoring junior staff
• Experience with Google Suite, Tableau, and JIRA
• Programming skills 
• Understanding B cell biology (Rabbit)

Phyical Conditions/Physical Requirements...

• Laboratory work environment
• May work with hazardous chemicals and materials, human/animal tissue, cells, and fluids
• Ability to lift at least 20 pounds
• Work environment conditions consist of both sitting and standing throughout the day
