Job Description
Position Overview:
Solid Power is seeking a Scientist to join our talented team working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next-generation, all solid-state rechargeable batteries. The Scientist I will be tasked with assisting R&D personnel on development and characterization of new cathode materials.
Job Duties:
- Contribute to the development of new solid-state cathode materials by conducting synthesis and characterization under the guidance of other scientists.
- Perform basic materials characterization including XRD, SEM, TGA/DSC, FTIR, and others.
- Safe operation of various lab equipment including ball mills, furnaces, glove boxes, and battery testers.
- Conform to all safety precautions and protocols.
- Maintain thorough and accurate records of all conducted experimentation.
- Clean and organize common equipment and lab areas.
- Document and follow standard operating procedures as well as assist in drafting or editing procedures during process development.
Qualifications/ Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry, material science, or a related discipline and 2+ years’ experience in the chemical industry desirable.
- Experience with electrode slurry mixing, coating and Li ion cell testing is a plus.
- Excellent work ethic and ability to quickly demonstrate independence.
- Hands-on experience working with material process development. Experience with glovebox use, air-sensitive materials, and/or solid-state synthesis is a plus.
- Experience with inorganic chemical synthesis desirable.
- Ability to adapt to rapidly evolving research and development needs.
- Highly analytical, detail-oriented mindset with an eye toward practical solutions.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- The candidate must be responsible and self-motivated, with a history of stable employment and performance.

Salary Range: $61,000 - $80,000/year
Benefits: Solid Power offers a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical/dental/vision insurance, employer paid Life/AD&D/STD/LTD insurance, 401k with company match, paid holidays, PTO, up to six (6) weeks paid FMLA leave, cell phone reimbursement and eligibility to participate in our bonus and equity plans.
